Hiya

I also have a connection to the Stealfox family in Cheshire through Peter's brother James, his daughter Mary married into the Shaw family from Cheshire.  I have found info on them up until John Stealfox who was married to Helena Beckett but has anyone got any information on these two families i.e brothers, sisters, parents?

I've had problems with my Internet over the last few weeks so thats why I haven't replied sooner.  I had information from a very distant relative on GenesReunited about the information that I have. I asked if they had any information on Thomas, William and Henrietta and the person told me that their father was John and mother Mary.  I guessed at their years of birth.  I have John down as unkown place of birth but Mary in Mallow, Ireland.  I don't know if this is true!

Thanks very much for the info you gave me.  I think that was the 'other' family (or so I thought) that was on the census that I couldn't connect (I recognise Cornelius Carroll).

I also took some notes on my findings, the handwritten ones I cannot find, they were my way of trying to connect the jigsaw puzzle but I did type some up on Word.  I don't know if I'm way out, this is another possible connection:

My family tree:  John Carroll born about 1840 unknown married to a Mary born about 1841 in Pontlottyn.

Ancestry.com census 1871 shows a record of a John Carroll born about 1851 in Ireland with Parents Daniel Carroll born in Ireland about 1811, married to a Mary (possibly Reardon) about 1823.  Brother shown here called Patrick Carroll born about 1854 in Ebbw Vale.  Possibly a match???

This may be something or nothing!  :)

My grandmother was born in Bilbao in Spain in 1898.  She came over to Wales in about 1928 and her name was Amparo Gomez Alvarado.  She was married to a Florentino Alvarado who I think was born in a town near Santander called Hoz de Marron.  I am trying to trace either of their families.  I know my nan had sisters who lived in Bilbao but that's it.

Does anyone know of a starting point of where I can get information about the Spanish census or anything?  :)

I only have a standard subscription on GenesReunited and I did have use my friends Ancesty over her house for a while so when I was researching the Carrolls, I found more than one family on Ancestry and I didn't know which one was which so I gave up and searched on genes until some one came to my help.  For years I couldn't go further than my g grand father John so I haven't seen the entry on the census.  :)

These Carrolls are very hard to trace!  Just a query, when you mentioned Mary and her maiden name as Sullivan and being born in Mallow, Ireland.  I may be wrong but I have William Carroll married to Elizabeth Sullivan born in the Cork area of Ireland in about 1871.  Is this right?

I also have Thomas married to a Mary Welsh born in about 1871 in Pontlottyn.  Her parents seem to have come from Ireland too.

May be the other Mary and John Carroll were the John we're looking for's parents!

I'm unsure about the census or the reference, I have my information from family members.  And Carroll is an Irish name so I'm assuming that he was born in 1840 in Ireland or his descendants were Irish.

I don't know where he lived in Pontlottyn as I think there were a few Carrolls living there but if they were all related remains a mystery.  I do know that he and Mary (unsure of her last name) had children Thomas Carroll born c1869, William Carroll born c1872 and Henrietta Carroll born c1875.  From Thomas, my g grandfather was born.

I am searching for anyone who nows anything about the Carroll family from Pontlottyn. 

I have information up to a John Carroll 1840 but I'm unsre where he was born.  His children were born in Pontlottyn and he had a wife named Mary.

Can anyone shed any light??  :)

I am a desendant of Hugh's brother John Price born in 1829.  He came down to Rhymney in South Wales and married a Sarah Jordan from Merthyr Tydfil.  I can't find any information on their parents.  There is another Price family living around the same area and I wondered if there was a link.
