Good day to you,  I am not very good at explaining my self so hope you can understand my message:
My father was in ww2, I would like to know did all service people have a 'named regiment' they  were in. The nearest I can find of my father is Certificate of Transfer to the Army Reserve, with R.A. Field ,written on it, does this mean anything.  I have his army number and a few other pieces and also I applied and received from MOD his war records but I cannot understand very well.  Thanks for reading .

Mike & Graham, Thanks for the info.  I know now it was for property. Look at the house prices :3 bedroom house in 1955 costs the priceley sum of £635.00    in 1980 (probate)  £17,000  now in 2018 £350,000 and in a very poor neglected condition. How the prices have risen.

Good evening,  I thought I would give family searching another go, I tried about 8 years ago all to no avail.  I rejoined Ancestry yesterday and am already stuffed up, LOL , I expect it will all come clear as I go along.  My query is : I got onto PROBATE  and found a member of the family's PROBATE with a reference number  and an amount of money,  does this amount of money go back to the family that is named in the WILL , I know there is a WILL as I was present at the time it was written. Hope I you can understand what I am getting at.  Regards Gwenie

Almost 7 years from start of the question it is still being read.  I do hope that the album is around and that you get to see some photos in it.

The Common Room / Re: When will GRO make available death records for 1958?

Hiya,  I was thinking the same as you, as I wanted to order a death cert from 1968.   which I will have to order from the local RO at £10.00 per cert + £4.00 postage and it will take 10 days.
