Other Countries / PUPILLO - Magnaboschi Cemetery, Cesuna, Vicenza, Italy
« on: Tuesday 25 April 23 03:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi!
Can anyone please point me in the right direction? According to a popular family tree website, Orazio PUPILLO was born 9 Jan 1892 and died 8 July 1916, and was buried in the Magnaboschi Italian and Austro - Hungaric cemetery, Cesuna, Privincia di Vicenza, Veneto, Italy.
The cemetery appears to be a military cemetery, and according to the record, Orazio was a soldier. I'd like to know where I can find more records relating to Orazio - he had a son, Paolo, born in Ferla, Siracusa, Sicilia, Italy in 1907 (meaning Orazio became a father at 15). Where can I locate Italian military records please?
Thanks in advance
GG

That's really interesting Garstonite!

My own seafaring ancestors were based in Liverpool - I will have to check the records I have and see if anyone 'deserted'!

Australia / Re: Western Australia, Richard KIRBY, born 1830, Surrey

Hello BAC3

I've just come across this conversation. I saw my name mentioned in one of the replies, and I do remember being contacted about a Parkhurst boy at one stage. I'm not sure if it was this one though - I am not involved with the Esperance Bay Historical Society, but with the Esperance Museum, specifically the archives.

I have an extensive list of employees of the Dempster family in Esperance, and have not come across Richard Kirby as yet. However, James Robert Sinclair was in Esperance at one stage, and it could be that Richard came here with him. The Sinclairs worked for the Dempsters.

As for the Roebourne move, the Dempster family had business interests up that way as well, and there were other employees who also made similar moves. So while Richard Kirby isn't on my list yet, I wouldn't rule him out as being an employee of that family - there are still resources I haven't looked at and he could be named in one of those.

Hi  - Just wondering if you ever found the list you were looking for, or were given directions on how to find it? I am also looking for information on a French whaler around the same time.
Cheers

World War Two / Western Australian service record decipher needed!
« on: Thursday 03 June 21 03:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Just wondering if anyone out there would please be able to decipher this - I would like to know where this Western Australian serviceman was between March and September 1945. I do know that he didn't serve overseas. I wonder if the abbreviations and annotations would tell us if he was still in WA, and possibly where in the state?
Thank you in advance,
GG

One more note, a Pietro BENASSI, Carolina BENASSI and Amadio BENASSI migrated from Italy to NY in 1955. So will try to ascertain whether it's him or not.

Other Countries / Pietro BENASSI, Italy

Hi - i am unfamiliar with European records, and I am wondering if anyone can help me find more information on this man. Here's what I have so far:
Pietro BENASSI, born 27 May 1911, Paviglia, Italy. Son of Paolo BENASSI and Maria TAGLIAVINI.
Pietro was a prisoner of war, and spent a few years in Australia from 1944 to 1946. (I have this record from the National Archives of Australia).
I would like to know more about his life after he returned to Italy in late 1946 - did he return to his life as a farmer, marry and have children? Also, where and when did he die?

Any information or directions would be appreciated, thank you.

GG
