Hi Cathyval

I find your post during research into my ancestor Thomas Lucas, a shoemaker who was born in Norton, Radnorshire.
Norton is in the Presteigne district and is on the border with Hereford, so more in England than Wales.
I've had difficulty tracing this particular ancestor but I found out he was a shoemaker from the marriage certificate of his son and also found the apprenticeship records for Thomas from 1800.

I expect you have researched your family in depth after all this time, but if there is anything I can help with then let me know.
Kind regards

Europe / German immigrtants in the 1800s

I am researching the Lauterbach family who I believe were from Germany.
I have traced back through all the available census records in this country and the earliest marriage I can find is in 1860.
The marriage was conducted at the German Lutheran Church, St. George's in Whitechapel and I have obtained the certificate which gives the names of the fathers of the bride and groom.
I would like to find out where this family came from originally,  but I cannot find any information on the Familysearch website. If anyone has ideas as to where else I could look I would be grateful.
The names I am searching are: Friedrich August Lauterbach and his father Franz Carl Lauterbach.  Friedrich was an engineer on his marriage certificate, born about 1836. His father was a straw hat maker.
