Australia / Re: MACKAY family Perth or Melbourne
« on: Sunday 05 February 12 13:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hello Kerry
Your email didn't work for me but I am glad you posted.
I have been looking in Australia for Martha's death and was interested to see it was Erith. However I live not far from there so am annoyed I didn't find it sooner. Do you know where she was buried. If not I will try to find out when I can.
I have a photo of a young Martha and wonder if we have been in touch before?
Lilla Ellard was the daughter of Ada and Tom Ellard. Ada was sister to my great grand father.

Thank you so much for all the replies. I never imagined I would get so much information. It is really helpful and I can't wait to tell my Mum.
I had found him on a passsenger list before and the address in Slade Green was my great great grandparents.
Thanks again.
Now I know the parents I may be able to find out where he was born. :)

Australia / MACKAY family Perth or Melbourne
« on: Wednesday 19 October 11 21:07 BST (UK)  »
I am seeking info about Ernest Mackay who may have been born c1873, don't know where. Married Martha Ellard 1910 Perth. Don't know if she died. Married again and had 3 children including Helena, known as Lena 1929.
Subsequently married Lilla Ellard in Kent England 1932. Lilla went to Australia where I have found them on the electoral list in Melbourne. Believe he died c1949 and she returned to England where she died in 1968.
I know about Lilla's own family and the Ellards, but would like to know about Ernest and what happened to Martha and the mother of the children, who Lilla cared for at Brighton Beach.
Any info welcome. Thanks.

Kent Completed Lookup Requests / Re: BROOK ROAD CEMETERY ERITH KENT

Hi
Central Library in Bexleyheath Townley Road has Local Studies upstairs. I have looked through the book where the names of the people who were buried is entered with dates, whether the grave was consecrated or not. I believe there may be addresses.

Local studies  at Central library have a book listing people buried at Brook Street, both the old and new cemeteries. It is easier to sit in the warm and look for the entry. Brook Street is a cold and draughty place, I know as I have family there. You did the right thing going on a hot day.

Percy Dorrell was born in Woolwich in 1888. His brother was Frederick. This is well documented and they are on the 1891 and 1901 census.
Percy married Agnes and they lived in Salt Avenue Stafford.
She died in 1958.
They had two children Mavis and Cyril.
 Cyril married, no children.
Mavis may have married in this country but went to Canada where she had one daughter.
Anna M posted a message referring to Percy as her grand father but the email she gave no longer works and I cannot contact the person who runs the site either. I was hoping she was still around to be contacted, or someone related to her. Until I do more research I have no other dates but hoped someone would see this and it would ring a bell.
