Hi,

Unfortunately no farther forward on Catherine Cousins birth/parents. I think she was probably born c1800-c1810 and that the earlier of the two Walters mentioned above, born c1798, was a brother.

Regards, J.

Hi Angus,

I've not done any Macleod research for a while. Info that might be of interest: my grandfather, Donald Macleod (1895-1937) married an Irish girl, Margaret Kavanagh in Glasgow. They had four children: William (died during the war with no issue), Dorothy (married with no issue), Violet, my mother, and Colin (two daughters). So unfortunately, this branch has no males to carry on the Macleod name.

Orkney / Re: Osla Ballentyne (Ballenden) - South Walls

Hi,

The Familysearch website gives the following children of Henry Sutherland and Osla Ballentine, all born in Walls and Flotta parish: Adam 1779, James 1781, Margaret 28 Dec 1783, Isabella 1786, Helen 1788, Jean 1789, Henry 1792, Samuel 1794, Elspet 1797 and John 1799.

Henry Sutherland was born 1754 to William Sutherland and Marion Cromarty. I believe Osla was born Ursilla Ballenden in 1757 to James Ballenden and Margaret Sabiston in Orphir parish.

Hi,

Does anyone know where exactly Commonbog, Gowran parish, Co. Kilkenny is? Where is the nearest town? An ancestor, Martin Kavanagh, was born there in 1822 to John Kavanagh and Mary Rourk - any info on this couple?

Thanks, J

Kilkenny / Cousins family of Reevanagh
« on: Sunday 27 December 15 19:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Looking for information on Catherine Cousins family. She married a Michael Malone of Reevanagh townland, Co Kilkenny in 1836. The marriage record spells her surname Cozens and a witness as John Cozens (her father or brother?). In 1841 she had a son Patrick in Reevanagh and her surname is spelled Cussins on his birth record. In the Griffith valuation of 1850 there is a Walter Cousins listed in Reevanagh. Also a Walter Cousins died in Co Kilkenny in 1874 aged 76.

Any info on this Cousins family?

Thanks, J

Update: I now realise that Martin Kavanagh must have died between 1901 Census and 1909 when his wife/widow Margaret married a Michael Comerford. She is listed in 1911 Census as wife of Michael Comerford along with her two youngest Kavanagh children, still living in Reevanagh.
