The unexplained death of Walter Bibby, Hawker of Beacontree Heath was reported in several newspapers in January 1893 ("Mysterious Affair at Romford"). The victims age wasn't given but

FreeBMD Death - Walter Bibby, age 39, Romford, Mar Qtr, 1893, 4a 196

The closest in age I can find on the 1891 Census is a Walter Bibby, age 35, Hawker - see RG12  1273  126  5. The information recorded against Walter and others in the household "is somewhat lacking".

On the 1891 Census there is Bibby circus family at RG12  1381  80  58

Hi,
do you have a link regarding the 1891 census and Bibby Circus family.
Regards,
Gary

Hi,
thank you very much for those photos.
if you come across anything else it would be appreciated.

I came across a name that may be from the same Bibby line.
His name is Elliot Bibby also a UK showman, is he related to L. Bibby on your photos.

Do you have any contact details for the Bibbys on the fairgrounds.

Regards,
Gary Brophy

Travelling People / Bibby Bros Circus
« on: Sunday 29 May 11 12:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
my family migrated from the UK to Australia and New Zealand in the 1890s
They started a small circus and called it Bibby Bros Circus and Buckjump Show.
I do not know if they were in showbusiness in the UK or just decided to start a circus in Australia.
Any info would be a great help.
My grand fathers name was Emerys Albert Bibby also known as Bert Bibby.
He had two brothers Ted and Jack. There was also a Lionel Bibby that did a sharpshooting act.
He was with the circus but I do not know how he was related.
I think my Great Grand fathers name was John Bibby.
I was told that we still have relatives in the UK called Bibby that are still in showbusines.

Hi
I have only just come across this site while doing a google search.
I have also been trying to trace my family tree.
My relatives migrated from the UK in the 1880-90s
When they arrived in Australia they started Bibby Bros Circus. that lasted until the first world war.
They then went on to the showgrounds.
My grandfathers name was Emerys Albert Bibby, he was better known as Bert Bibby.
I think we still have some connection to some Bibbys that are showman in the UK.
I do not have any contact details for them so if anyone could help me out it would be great.
Regards,
Gary Brophy
