Staffordshire / Eccleston Norton Canes

Hi, I am trying to find out when my dads oldest brother was born, I think he is still alive but I have never had any contact with him.  I can't find him on FreeBMD although his two younger siblings are on there, can anyone help?  Here are the details:

My Grandad was John Bartlett Eccleston and he married my Nan - Alice Hampton on 29th January 1927 in Cannock (I have the original certificate for this) the rumour is they had to get married (as did most people it seems!) because they were expecting their eldest son.  He is known as Uncle Peter but I suspect his name may be either Charles, John or Peter!  His younger sister May Alice was born in Jun 1929 and was followed by Thomas Jun 1930 and then by 3 more sons including my dad Clifford 17th August 1936 to 6th January 2001.
Uncle Peter was raised by my Gt Grandparents (why I don't know) so I have never really known him.  Any ideas anyone?  Thank you for your time.

Hi a while back I found out about Benjamin John King Horn who died at sea on the Barque Craiglands 28/02/1892 on the internet.  For the life of me I can't find anything on it now!  Does anyone know anything about this death or can find out for me?  Thank you.

Essex Lookup Requests / Horn / Buckland Marriage

I am looking for the marriage of Benjamin William Horn to Ethel Buckland but when I look on Ancestry there doesn't seem to be any records for the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter of 1925 and before I plough through all the others could anyone tell me if the marriage was in this quarter.  If it was could you tell me if Ethel has any other initials please.

OK forget my family history if someone changed their surname legally between 1883 and 1907 where would it be recorded.

I can't afford certificates at the moment I have quite a few handed down to me but not relating to these particular people. I know you need certificates to be sure and all that but I like doing detective work on the internet and getting as much free info as possible.   :)

Thank you.

England / Surname name change

Hello

I have a relative who (I think) changed their surname.  I don't know if they did this via legal routes or just changed it!

On the 1891 census for Staffs I have Mary Hollander aged 9 born Norton Canes Cannock (noted as Granny Ecclestons daughter) please also note that Granny Eccleston also has her illigitimate grandson down as her son on this census.
On the 1901 census for Staffs I have Mary J Hollander aged 17 born Norton Canes Cannock.
I have no Mary Hollander born at that time in Cannock but I do have a Mary J Eccleston (mothers maiden name) born at that time.  Her mother did go on to marry an Edwin Hollender in 1887.
I have a marriage of Mary J Hollander to Samuel Daft in 1907 in Cannock

My question is if Mary used the name Hollander on her marriage certificate would this mean she had it changed legally and if so how would I find out?
