Hi Barbara

Sorry I have not replied before have not been looking into family history for sometime have been promising myself a trip to Shropshire Archives but have not managed to get there yet.

I have a marriage certificate for Fanny Jones and John Humphreys, they got married on the 9th September 1888 (I also got married on the 9th September, which is also my birthdate)  Fanny's place of residence on the marriage certificate is given as Queens Head Yard, Oswestry and John's place of residence is Llanforda Parish of Oswestry.  I also have the death certificate for Fanny, who died on the sixteenth August 1990 aged 32.  The cause of death on the certificate says she died from failure of the action of the heart due to shock.  An inquest was held on the 17th August 1990.

If you have any information I would be extremely grateful.

My e mail address is *

Kind regards

Yvonne

Hi Barbara

My grandfather was Edward Humphreys he was the son of John Humphreys and Fanny (Jones).  I have already explained that Fanny was the sister of Edward Jones.   John and Fanny had as far as I have been able to tell 5 children they were Joseph, Edward, William, Sarah and Samuel. John and Fanny Humphreys are on the census of 1891 as living with John and Rebecca Jones at the Queens Head Yard.   At that time they only had two children Joseph and Edward (my grandfather).   Fanny died in August 1900, the death certificate says she died from heart failure due to shock, there was an inquest and I hope to investigate this a little further.   In the cencus of 1901 my Great Grandfather John Humphreys was a lodger of Catherine Owens at 76 Willow Street.  Joseph, Edward, William and Sarah were with John at that address.   My Granddad had a brother called Samuel and I believe he was living at 45 Castle Street and was entered on the cencus as an adopted child.  My Grandfather Edward Humphreys ended up in Thanet Kent where he married my Grandmother Alice Manser.   Edward and Alice moved to Yorkshire which is where I was born.  About 10 years ago I moved to North Wales.   From my research I believe John and Rebecca had the following children:-  Edward, Mary, John, Joseph, Fanny, William, Sarah, David, Samuel, Margaret and Mary.   I have been to Oswestry looking for some of the addresses where John and Rebecca lived, Willow Street, Welsh Walls and Queens Head, I am hoping to go back in the near future to the records library.   I would be really grateful for any information you could give me.   It would also be nice to know who your relatives are.

Thanks

Yvonne

Hi Barbara I came across your question re Edward Jones.   Edward had a sister called Fanny Jones who married a John Humphreys (9.9.1888).  Fanny and John were the parents of my grandfather Edward Humphreys.   I would be grateful for any information you have on this family particularly Rebecca's maiden name.  I know Fanny died on 16.8.1900.   I would be grateful for any information you could give me.

Thanks
