Thanks for the information, sorry I have not answered sooner.

I would say that it is definitely the man I am after, I have found him on the 1901 and 1911 census, also I have found an entry in the London Gazette for him relinquishing his commission due to ill health, all I need now would be to find someone going to Kew to do a look up for me as I cannot get away from work.

This is all tied into the fact I recently added his medals to my collection of Royal Sussex WW1 medals, he was awarded the standard pair of British War & Victory Medals, the Mic i have found also and his entitlement to the SWB No 290653 (unfortunately not included).

Again many thanks for the help

Roy

Hi All

I am wondering whether someone would be able to look up the Army List between 1914 and 1918 for
2nd Lt C F Jackson, I know from his MIC that he first served with the Royal Fusiliers, but then transferred to the Royal Sussex Regiment also gaining promotion to Lt plus that he was entitled to the SWB, I am after finding out which battalion of the Sussex he was with and any other information on him,

Thanks in advance

Roy

World War One / Re: Medals - Michael O'Brien

I can only find one Michael O'Brien listed to a Scottish regiment, it says Scottish Rifles, Which i believe were the Cameronians, his number would be 14432 and was entitled to the British War Medal and the Victory Medal, I also looked up Scottish rifles and O'Brien using the national archives for the medal card and it only returned one, the link is here

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documentsonline/details-result.asp?Edoc_Id=4615076&queryType=1&resultcount=23

The medal card is available to download for £2

I hope this helps

Dear Mr Arthur

I was wondering if you would be good enough to look at the marriage records for the felling parish of St Patricks.

In particular the Surname "Luke", the earliest date would be 4 Oct 1874, David Luke (Irish) married a Barbara Winship, I know they lived in felling and run the Malting Inn Pub he was also an undertaker. I am after details for him and his father Henry. Also if any of the Luke Children grew up and married there also. It is because of the Irish side that Im having difficulty tracing any further back

Many thanks

Roy

Thank you to you both for your time and help in this,

I must say Adrian you are very swift, especially with that amount of detail.
I look forward to finding his service papers, are they split as in one lot of service records and the other lot as pension records as is often the case on ancestry?

thank you again

Roy

Hi I'm after some help,

I recently bought a WW1 victory medal,
It belonged to G/12812, C F Beck, East Kent Regiment.
I have found out his medal card but have not managed
to trace any other information so far.

Just an update and to say thanks for the help,

The death cert for the Thanet entry turned out to be the right one, i have a copy of the certificate and found that he died at St Lawrence College in Ramsgate while serving with 133 Brigade, I'm currently trying to find out whether the unit was an HQ or an officer training depot

many thanks again

Roy
