I am also researching a Thomas Reynolds who was a furniture dealer and worshipped as a Catholic at Kelvedon Hall in Brentwood Essex. He was good friends with my ancestor John Corrigan. This Thomas Reynolds was born at Chelmsford in about 1807 but i was just wondering whether it's the same Reynolds family perhaps this Thomas Reynolds father ?

Family History Beginners Board / Re: The Christian Name "Fasho"

Kept searching and have now probably found the answer.Probably derives from Fasham, which was a Hugenot surname.Recorded in a wide variety of spellings including Fassan, Fasson, Fashin, Fashion, and Fazan.
Also noticed that the Duchess of Devonshire,Georgiana had a daughter with the Christian Name Harriet bn 1785 but she called her Harryo which was around the same time as Fasho was born-so may have been the thing to do.

Thanks to all who tried to help with Fasho Lean.I already had when and where she was baptized and died etc.The Name Fasho was the Problem I just wanted to know where it originated from because it is so unusual and it might indicate something about the Families roots. The other idea, apart from French was that is was somehow Irish...

Family History Beginners Board / The Christian Name "Fasho"

I have an ancestor whose Christian Name was "Fasho".Does anyone have any idea where that name would have come from ? To me it sounds a bit French. It is so unusual.(When you Google it doesn't come up in any old books...)The rest of the Family (surname Lean of Wilton,Wiltshire) had pretty normal names. Could it have been a nickname or shortversion of a longer name ?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks !

Hi,
I have just discovered that my Wells Family were from Englefield. So I will be trying to look at records for that parish. Most of the records will probably be at the Berkshire Record Office. In a couple of weeks I will be looking at the Society of Genealogists what they have.(Hope one day to get to Berkshire but I do not live in England and too Little time in the next trip).I'll be on the look out for Harringtons,Arringtons and Anstead's and will let you know if I see anything. Can I ask you where you found the apprenticeship record for your John Harrington ?

Denbighshire / Roberts at Hen,Denbighshire.1784
« on: Saturday 31 December 11 09:45 GMT (UK)  »
Have posted this before but can't find it and the answers people gave.Apologies!
I am trying to find out where exactly John Roberts bn in Denbighshire about 1784 would have been born. The census is the 1851 English Census HO107/1554/ 255 p 34

It looks as though the birth place written in is Hens,Denbighshire but I can't seem to find a town like that.Could it be Henllan ?
Would appreciate any help.

Denbighshire Lookup Requests / Re: Baptisms Henllan
« on: Tuesday 22 November 11 05:17 GMT (UK)  »
Oh sorry Omega,
I didn't know that there were two.I mean the Henllan in Denbighshire.I have this ancestor called John Roberts who was born about 1874 in Denbighshire. On the 1851 census he is living at Limehouse in London but his birth place is clearly written Denbighshire and in front of that is written what looks like "Hens" but when I looked on google maps I could only find Henllan so I think that must be the town where he was born.
Don't know whether you can still help me but I'd be grateful for any advice.
Thanks,
Jasmin.
