Caernarvonshire / Re: 1891 census lookup HENDRI(C)K(S)

Thank you so much for trying. I wondered if the census returns in 1891 might help to pinpoint the houses each side, but perhaps not. I have had a look on Google Earth & realised there are a lot of hotels/guesthouses in Church Walks.

This family were only in Llandudno for one census, coming from & returning to Kings Norton/Edgebaston (where the mother came from). It's intriguing to know why they moved there - & perhaps she got homesick for Brum!
(But the only child - the person I'm studying - returned to Wales to go to university at Aberystwyth in 1916-19). I'm still waiting for info from the university about her time there.

Thank you again :)

Thank you very much, that should help to pinpoint it. :)

RE

RG 12 / 4674 / 119 / 29

Many thanks for the previous information about the HENDRIKS family at Rose House, Church Walk(s), in Llandudno in 1891. I'm trying to find out whether the house still exists, has been renamed, or what number it was. Is there any information from neighboring returns that could help me pinpoint the building? Church Walks seems to be quite a long road of Victorian buildings - I've been up & down many times on Google Earth, & searched with Google.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi,

Many thanks JenB (again!) - I put this thread in the Caernarvonshire section rather than 'muddy' the Birmingham thread. I have previously only done research in Cornwall where things get parish specific.

I notice that this census says that Helena was born in London, but all others say Birmingham & the couple married in Birmingham & Eileen was born there. I've looked at the birth register - it is a bit difficult - certainly looks like Eilsen not Eileen, to me!

Henry got married in 1886 so in 1881 he will be single. I am interested in his life before - when he left London, for example.

At first I thought there might have been a Scandinavian connection - HENDRIKS, but I think it's just a transcription/phonetic change. Henry was HENDRICKS, but Eileen ended up HENDRIKS not HENDRICK(S).

I need to chase Eileen (Lind) forward from 1911 now - I believe she went to Aberystwyth University, but I don't know when (yet).

Thanks again for the 1891 information.  :)

Thank you very much for this information. I have just tried FreeBMD again & have got it putting in Hendrike - but it didn't come up with variations of HENDRIKs even with phonetic spelling on.

Caernarvonshire / 1891 census lookup HENDRI(C)K(S)
« on: Sunday 08 January 12 21:14 GMT (UK)  »
Could some one help me with a lookup on the 1891 census in Caernarvonshire, please? I have a family called HENDRIKS/HENDRICK/HENDRICKS in Birmingham the 1901, 1911 censuses. But in 1891 they seem to be in Caernarvonshire.

Father Henry b 1856 London
Mother Helena b 1860 Mosely Birmingham
Daughter Eileen Mary Lind b Birmingham 1887/8

Can anyone confirm this family, please - where they are living, father's occupation (he was an estate agent surveyor in 1901)

Thanks for any information you can pass on.

Worcestershire / 1887/8 birth record HENDRIKS

Many thanks to JenB for confirming my HENDRIKS family in Kings Norton/Edgbaston in 1901 & 1911. It also indicates that Eileen M Lind HENDRIKS was probably born in the area in 1887/8. I have previously tried FreeBMD (nothing) and Ancestry.co.uk where the nearest candidate  is Eilsen (sic) Mary J (sic) HENDRIKE b Oct 1887 in Kings Norton. Is that likely to be her, do you think? I have tried alternative & phonetic spellings without success.

Thank you so much for this, it's very helpful. If you need a look-up in Cornwall, I'll reciprocate! :)
