Cheshire / Re: LEA of Sandbach, Cheshire & Staffordshire
« on: Wednesday 12 September 18 19:36 BST (UK)  »
Greetings!

I am finding this software extremely confusing so please forgive me if I am not replying correctly!

Letter 1 from Gillian.

Gillian, I have done extensive research into the Lea's from Sandbach and can tell you that there are at least 7 different Lea families in Sandbach and closely surrounding villages (ie Holmes Chapel etc.), that do not appear to be related according to all the records that are available.  I have extracted every Lea from the parish registers, and placed them all in different family groups.  My Lea's had died out in Sandbach by the mid 1800's, with one line going to Worcester, and my line to Newcastle/Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, so it is very unlikely that your husband is related to my Leas.

Letter 2.   Likewise, I have no Lea relations in the areas you mention.

Sorry I cannot be more helpful to either of you, Kindest regards, Diana Lea

Thank you so much for taking time out to write back to me.

I am so sorry that Beryl Coulson has passed on, but how sweet of you to try to help her.  I did know about her twin Jean dying when she was one year old...very sad!  I somehow suspect that the twins older brother will also have died by now as he was born in 1921.  Must see if I can find a death for him!

Anyway, again, many thanks for getting back to me.  I really appreciate it!
Kindest regards, Diana

Greetings!

I realise that this is a very old message, but I have only just stumbled over it, partly because I have not been doing a lot of family history research of late due to ill health.  However, feeling back to my old self again now, I have thrown myself back into my obsessive hobby in a big way!

I cannot help you with any more information than you have already been given on this website, which is much the same as I have uncovered.  Horace King Coulson is my first cousin (twice removed) and I have been doing lots of research into his family this past few weeks, uncovering some rather interesting information.  If you like to get in touch with me I will be only too happy to share what I have with you.

My initial interest is and always has been, the Atwater family ....Charlotte Atwater (1847) married George Coulson (1838), but my actual descent is from an illegitimate daughter of Charlotte whom I always doubted that George was the father, because my g.grandmother Charlotte Louisa was born in 1866, some 6 years prior to Charlotte and George marrying.  Now though, through research, I am of the opinion that he was indeed my gg grandfather, but that is a story still unfolding!  Of course, I am related to their children....George William and Mary Susanna (plus the deceased Helen Harriet), and indeed to Horace King Coulson.

Kind regards, Diana in Tropical Far North Qld, Australia

Greetings!  Charlotte Atwater who married George Coulson was my 2 x g grandmother.  She had an illegitimate daughter, also named Charlotte Atwater, about 6 years before she married George Coulson, and this daughter took the name of Coulson, eventually marrying my great grandfather under that name, but whether George was her 'real' father is impossible to know.  If you would like to contact me at dmlfamilyhistory@gmail.com I will be happy to share what knowledge I have of this family.  Cheers, Diana

Greetings again!

Again not 'quite' a match!  I have a Joseph Proctor 1848 - 1914 and, much closer to my line
Joseph Henry Morley Proctor 1879 -1943, the latter being my husband's grandfather, married to Sarah Ann Eliza Parke in Lincoln.
Cheers, Diana

I believe that the details of 'my' Louisa Longmate are correct (parents etc.) as per my original posting, but from memory there were two Louisa Longmates born in Aubourn.  It is many years since I did any research on this branch of family, so cannot remember the details of the 2nd one.

Thank you so much for offering to get my money back.  To be honest, I am 'over it all' right now!  I actually don't want my money back.......all I want is to go back to the pre 'new search' days and find all the things that I used to be able to find! My subscription runs out in July, so, having been without the facility since March, it really isn't worth worrying about now, but again, thank you so much for offering!

We have the right to complain!  FindMyPast took our money from us and have given us complete frustration and the inability to use their site with any successful outcomes.  Well, as a pensioner, I can ill afford the money I wasted on my 6months subscription which was a total loss and which has caused me to (temporarily I hope) completely lose interest in a hobby that I have enjoyed for well over 20 years.  Thanks FindMyPast!  NOT!

Greetings again Andrew!  Sadly I cannot find anyone in the Magito tree that looks remotely like they might be, or be related to, my Nicholas Alexis M........?  Oh well, onward and forward with more searching, but thank you so much for your help.  Cheers Diana
