Not sure how I want to phrase this:

Searching on Ancestry for a person.

Do people actually check ANYTHING?
How can you look at your tree and then think what you have got on it is right?

I know my tree isn't perfect with Abt., Bef. or Aft. on it.
But seriously in the 1500s Sussex, Huntington, Suffolk ... that is one hell of a well travelled family !

RANT OVER

The Common Room / Re: Old Houses / Todays houses

Thanks.
I've done photography for years and I was thinking of doing that.
I use Google Street View and even found a one of the places I was looking for on a website with the house for sale/rent. so able to use  that.

I didn't want to get the 'old Bill' turning up and starting a "discussion" over it.

I have seen those.
As much as I have thought I'd like to use those I'd like to take my own ones as well (its the photographer in me  ;) )

A bit of a thought that I'd like other peoples thoughts on if you please.

At the weekend my FH bug kicked in and while I was searching I came across many house/place names that some of my ancestors lived back in the 1500s, 1600s 1700s. Pleaces like Gravetye Manor (West Hoathly), Mate Croft (Balcombe) and Old House (West Hoathly) are some of them.

Have any of your written to the current occupiers asking to visit and take a photo of the building that your ancestors lived in?
Did you get a response ?
Was it a yes or no?

Is it worth writing?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts/ideas.
Neil.
