The Common Room / How do I find out where an ancestor is buried?

How do I find out where an ancestors are buried?

My great grandparents both passed in Lanarkshire, him in 1895 and her in 1925. I have located both of their death records but I don't know how to find out where they are buried. I've searched the Find A Grave site and searched Scotland's People records.

He was Catholic (I haven't confirmed if she was, but I'm assuming). I searched Catholic records but didn't find anything.

How do I find out?

Lanarkshire / Figuring Out Where Someone is Buried in Glasgow.

Hello.

I was wondering if you guys had an advice or tips on how to figure out where my great grandmother is buried.  I have her death record and I know her address at the time and that she was Catholic.

Her name at the time of death was Mary Ann McLaren.  Her maiden name was McCulloch.  She died on 30 June 1925 at the Western Infirmary.  Her resident at the time was 15 Sandeman Street.

Thanks!
MK

Lanarkshire / Peter Donnelly Death Record and Obit
« on: Thursday 15 August 13 20:19 BST (UK)  »
Hello.  I am trying to find information on Peter Donnelly and his wife Mary McNab Donnelly.  They lived on Ailsa Crescent (in 1978 at least) in Motherwell.  Peter died in 2000 but I haven't been able to find the exact date so that I can look for an obit.  I am not sure about Mary.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Is there an online archive for the Motherwell Times? I need to look up a death notice and I am in the US.

Nevermind. It appears that Moiser was her husband's last name. She must have kept the last name McManus when the got married.

Lanarkshire / Question about Last Names on Death Record
« on: Tuesday 29 May 12 19:19 BST (UK)  »
On the Scotland's People site, I noticed that alot of the listings say it is not permissable to list the mother's surname. I was wondering if anyone could explain that (why). And also could you tell me what the other surnames would be on this listing:

http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/Search/results.aspx

I am assuming one would be Catherine's maiden name, which was Smith. What might the other one be? The name of the informant perhaps?

Thanks! I wasn't sure because in the US we have White Pages online. I am still learning all the Scottish stuff. :)

It's funny because when I do that (with the maiden name included) alot of times nothing shows up so I have to remove the second last name . So I searched but only had results for Julia Smith. But thank you for the help! I really appreciate it.
