Thank you, folks. Alexander and Catherine had two children: Jane McLean Carr (1896-1969) & Gabriel Alexander Carr (1900-1959). I too haven't found them in 1901 but, again, haven't checked under Milne!

Thank you for these records, Carole. I don't know why I didn't think of checking under Jane's name for Alexander. I wonder why Alexander adopted the surname Carr when he got married?

Hi Carole,

He gives his age as being 44 in 1911 so that would put his birth year approximately 1866/67.

Hi, everyone,

I am currently researching the Carr surname in Fife, however, I have hit a brick wall regarding Alexander Carr's parents. According to Alexander's marriage in 1894 to Catherine McLean, he is living in Links, Buckhaven and is a coal miner. It also states that his father is Alexander Carr, a joiner, who is deceased and his mother is Jane Carr m.s. Milne. I can find no marriage record for Alexander & Jane or death records for them either. Similarly, I cannot find a birth record for Alexander Carr, the son. I have searched census records too and, until 1911, Alexander Carr does not appear and gives his birthplace as Locher, Forfarshire. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

Elaine & Monica, thank you both so much! Mary has been bugging me for a while now! So I'm glad a few things have been cleared up.

Archie and Mary had a son, Duncan McCorkindale Wilson. I'm wondering he was perhaps named after Mary's grandfather or uncle? Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a death for him though. According to our family Bible he was born 2nd Oct 1900, when Mary died in 1910 according to the newspaper clipping Duncan isn't mentioned but all her other children are.  ???

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for Mary Kerr, daughter of George Kerr and Catherine McCorkindale. Mary married Archibald Wilson in 1897 (both widowed at the time) and her parents are listed as the above. In the 1901 census she gives her birthplace as Glasgow in 1864, but at the time of her marriage she was living at 10 Newark Street, Port Glasgow.

From her previous marriage she had a son, Matthew. Who was born around 1884 in Kilmacolm, unfortunately I haven't been able to get Mary's first husband's name although I believe his surname is Morgan due to her marriage certificate to Archie stating "Mary Kerr or Morgan".

I'm hoping someone can help me with tracking down her first husband and when/where her parents were from. All help is really appreciated!

Thank you aghadowey, I did think that but wasn't sure. I'm not really concerned about his siblings, but more his parents. They really are a mystery for my family, but I won't give up! Hopefully i'll be able to find something soon  :)
