 :)Dear Suz,

The two Elizabeths really bothered me so I went on the IGI again and in the batch numbers I typed in Elizabeth Trueman and found her married in the same area as Elizabeth Hardy and they were both married within a few days of each other, only Elizabeth Trueman married Henry Sisson!! So I now know that the Elizabeth married to George Riley Wright is really mine.  Thanks for checking further and yes I have also been checking on the William Hardy you mention.  I found another William Hardy in Bath Street, Ilkeston and thought he was the right one, but today on the IGI I found him with a different father (if the information was correct as it wasn't from any records) so it certainly does look like the William you found is my William too!  It put me off with his birthplace written as Shipleywood instead of Shipley, but as there are so many mistakes even on the original documents, I have decided that with Elizabeth next door, he must be her brother.  I also have seen a Sisson mentioned and wondered if there is a connection, I will have to check on that too!  I'll definitely try the Heanor History site to see if I can glean anything off it.  Thanks so much, you have been a great help.  Jane

:)Dear Suz,

Thanks so much for your help, this part of my family is very difficult to trace.  I found the marriage on the IGI and Elizabeth under her father's name, but as her mother's maiden name was Trueman, I wonder is she had her before getting married.  I found an Elizabeth Trueman born in June 1840 and  Elizabeth's parents got married in December of the same year - but I also found Elizabeth Hardy three times from 1839 to 1841 too!! Hence I will have to find someone who has parish records so that I can confirm the above.  Your information was of great help and even if the Trueman family you found is the wrong one they may still be connected being that they are Truemans!  It was very kind of you to go to so much trouble.  Jane

Census and Resource Discussion / Re: Can you decipher cause of death?
« on: Saturday 20 May 06 16:14 BST (UK)  »
:)Hi Peter,

I have just read everyone's messages and I have to say that I think that UK Girl has a point.   On one side of my family many were farmers in Lincolnshire during that period and a number of them lived to 'ripe old ages', but the other side were miners in Derbyshire, where people had a much harder life, living in terrible conditions, and therefore if they reached their sixties, doctors would have thought they had done well under the circumstances and would have considered them old, whereas a doctor living in an area where life wasn't as hard would have a different view on what age he considered old.

Regards,
Jane

:'( How lucky you are to be able to visit the graveyard.  A few months ago I got my great-great-great grandparents death certificates and realised that when I was a child I had actually played in the graveyard they are buried in - without realising that they were there!  My great-great grandfather and also a number of other family members are also buried there too!

I now live on the other side of the world and cannot get back to England often, so I really envy you all!!  I must say that if I ever do get to visit the place, I'm sure I'll shed a few tears myself too!!  By the way, I think I may have some ancestors buried near yours, in Spalding!!

??? Have no information on my great-great grandmother's family.  She was born in Barrow-on-Trent, Derbyshire, in about 1833.  In 1851 she is a nursemaid so I cannot find her family connection.  If anyone can help, I would be most grateful.  Thank you, Jane.
