Hello Brittaya

Thank you for replying to my post.   I have passed on your message to Dwillis and hopefully she will be in touch with you.  She is just starting off her research and is a bit wary of the procedure, however      I will encourage her to reply.

Regards from Jenny

I am helping the daughter of JAMES GEORGE GORDON CLARK from Aberdeen research her family ancestors, and would like to hear from anyone doing likewise.

Hello Becky,

Susan was here today and I gave her copies of all your postings and the replies.   She is going to draft out an e-mail for me to send you, but would like to obtain your direct e-mail address.   How do we go about doing this???

She was telling me she has a photograph of her Grandfather, William Taylor Logan, but he died on 13 November, 1949, and she was only 3 years old!

However, I have found another site called  Judy's Family History.   This has the Logan family of Cruden Bay and photographs, stories, etc.   I am sure they are part of your family.    There's a Kilmarnock connection also, which might explain why they went there.

By the way my husband's Gt. Grandparents came for a tiny fishing village a couple of miles south from Cruden Bay, called Winnyfold.    (Shearer and Parley are their surnames)

Your Grandmother must be about 90 now??   Have you told her about our conversation?

Eagerly awaiting your next communication.

Jenny (christened Jean, but family called me Jenny) in sunny Aberdeen - where are you?

Hello

I'm a newcomer to this site.   But I have "WHITECROSS" on my husband's tree and also on mine!!   My husbands Gt. Gt. Grandmother was ELIZABETH WHITECROSS, born 1830 in a tiny fishing village south of Cruden Bay and north of Aberdeen, Scotland, called WHINNEYFOLD - pronounced locally as FINNYFALD.   It is perched above the North Sea of the edge of the cliffs, with a winding path leading down to the small beach and shore line.   Long ago the inhabitants, mostly fishermen, were involved in smuggling under the noses of the excise men.   There's also a story of the rescue of a number of sailors from a sinking ship off the coast, and one of the local cemeteries has gravestones to the drowned shipmates.

My WHITECROSS ancestor was ANN, born about 1815 in Methlick, Aberdeenshire, but I suspect she also is part of the Winneyfold clan.   ANN is my Gt. Gt. Grandmother and she married my Gt. Gt. Grandfather, ROBERT DUGUID in 1832.

I notice your query was 2009, so no doubt you have your tree "finished" by now.  But I have a number of the Whitecross family in my tree and I know that there are still Whitecrosses living in the area.

Hello Sandcay in America,

It's a wet, dreich day here in Aberdeen, Scotland, so I was browsing through Roots and came upon the LOGAN name.   My cousin SUSAN DUGUID's mother was MARY TAYLOR LOGAN, and Mary's father was WILLIAM TAYLOR LOGAN, born 13 October, 1876 to HAY LOGAN and his wife, MORRISON CHRISTIE at New Bridge of Don, Old Aberdeen, Scotland.   WILLIAM TAYLOR LOGAN is the brother of HAY LOGAN, born 25 February 1882.   There was another son also named HAY LOGAN, born 11 February 1879, but who died aged 22 months.

I have been helping my cousin Susan with her Family Tree, and we found HAY LOGAN had emigrated to America in April 1923 onboard the Andania, ariving in New York on the 11th, but was bound for SAGINAW in MICHIGAN.   Did they settle there??    I couldn't find his wife and the 4 children's passage to the USA, but will keep looking.

We are looking forward to hearing from you and exchanging information.   You may also have a communication from my cousin.

Kind regards from JENNY in Aberdeen, Scotland
