Thank you so much for your very detailed reply, I had a look at the Lancashire Archives as you suggested, makes interesting reading.  Maybe there are more than one couple named John & Sarah, we may never know.  Anyway thanks again for all your hard work, I have been looking for her for years.

Thanks Trish  I have her marriage, she married Thomas Holmes in 1824

I have Margaret Crook on several later censuses, and also her marriage which was May 1824 at the church St Michael's on the Wyre, but I cannot find a birth. It says on the certificate she was born in Inskip, can anyone help please
