If you do go to a LDS centre couldn't you just look at it on findmypast?

It does look like Philip was Ellen's son, and not Edwin. They were the same kind of age anyway. The mystery of Edwin continues!
Unfortunately that possible marriage in 1865 doesn't seem to be online, so quite likely it was at the register office. Perhaps not surprising if Ellen was already married!
