I'm trying to read the name of this church, but can't find anything that matches close to the name in any lists of local churches. Marriage was registered in the City of Westminster.
The certificate says: Marriage solemnized at the Parish Church of St G****? Purlieu? in the County of Middlesex.

This is part of the Royal Marines Description Books (ADM158), and written in the Observations column is the word that looks like yd/jd/fd or sd? I can't work out what it is short for. It occurs alot in entries for different servicemen. Any ideas?

Hi all,
I'm looking at some RAF records, and have seen figures for Effective strength of Unit, and Posted strength of Unit. What do these terms mean? Is Effective strength simply those personnel who aren't sick/or on leave?

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Marsley & Broadstone

I have a family member who according to the 1851 census was born in the village of Marsley, Newchurch, and her son was born in Broadstone, Hampshire. I can't find these places referenced on any maps, or doing the usual searches. Anyone come across these places before? Have their names changed?

Here's the whole picture so you can see Emilys' sister-in-law and the other relatives I mentioned. You can see the small bouquet of flowers fairly clearly attached to the sash.
I have had a look at Victorian/Edwardian sashes that were worn either for fashion or mourning, and haven't really seen one attached in the same style as the picture.
