apparently this person died in New York, when I asked for the date of death there was no clear answer ..."recently, some time this year" ....I have googled the name, I have yet to call and enqiure ..we are pretty sure that my ancestor did not ever travel to New York ....

The Lighter Side / Probate Researchers

My father, and his siblings have been contacted by telelphone by a Probate Research Co out of the US, looking for info to confirm their connection to the deceased, who they say is a half sister, born of their Father out of wedlock. They claim there is a sizeable inheritance to be disposed of and if they are the rightful heirs they would recieve it after a "commission" paid to the researchers ....my question is ...how do we know this is a legitimate enquiry, are they fishing?
