Europe / SPAIN / PUERTO RICO slave register
« on: Wednesday 26 July 17 19:52 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I am looking for information regarding the slave register held by the Spanish Governors in Puerto Rico pre 1872. I know the National Archives in the US have some volumes on microfiche that can be ordered but I was wondering if there exists in Spain something similar yet more detailed. That is to say, that goes back even further than 1872.
I am particularly interested in the barrios of Aguada and Rincón. I am searching for information about Juaquin Alers Duprey, b. circa 1850 d. circa 1920, and his wife, Antonia Alers Servera ( or Cervera) b. circa 1851 d. circa 1941, both in Puerto Rico.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Kelger

Hello all,

I am looking for more information on the parents and grandparents of Juana Caro Quiñones. I got their names from church records but nothing further. I would like to have something to corroborate the names. Her parents were Manuel Caro Vega & Jacinta Quiñones Soto.  Her grandparents on her mother's side were Juan Ángel Quiñones & María Eugenia Soto. I do not have the second surnames for either of her grandparents. I do not know how to proceed. Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

United States of America / ELOY ALERS ALERS / AGUADA, PUERTO RICO

Hello all,
I am looking for further information on the parents of my great-grandfather Eloy Alers Alers. He was born in Aguada, PR circa 1885. I know his parents were Juaquin Alers Duprey (b. circa 1850 - d. circa 1920) and Antonia Alers Servera (Cervera) (b. circa 1851 - 1941) and they had 7-9 children.  This is where the trail goes cold. From family stories, we believe that either Eloy, his father or both, worked in Santo Domingo. I have a passport application for Eloy and his wife returning to Puerto Rico from DR that seems to confirm the stories. I do not know how to proceed as the files are most likely in Spanish records because the American records did not start until 1898/1899.
Can anyone tell me where to look from this point?  Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Kelger
