No George you will have to find out what childrens homes were close to where he lived firstly,my own Grandfather went into the workhouse as such so you could try the local archives for the area first,go forward a few years after his birth, and also seaarch for his mother in the records there may be some good information in there, also have you checked out he wasn't taken by another family member ,these tend not to on the internet,Barnardo's charge a small fee for doing a search but they are very thorough and if he went there you will get a lot of information good luck it took me years to find my Grandfathers sister, but it was worth the effort to find our missing family members
Thanks for your help, I am currently attempting to do a search through Barnardos. However, when going on Barnados I am greeted by the following description:
"Search for a relative from the UK.
Are you the nearest surviving direct descendant?
If not you will need to download the postal form for completion by the nearest surviving relative. Alternatively, they can complete the online application themselves.
By completing this form you are declaring that you are the nearest surviving descendant and will be required to pay an initial search fee of £25."
I was wondering if there is a different searching system that perhaps you used. Just that I am not a descendant of the person I am looking for and definitely don't know if I am the closest relative.
