Travelling People / Re: Wilsher blood line, Nottingham, Joseph Wilsher

Hope all is well, now lockdown is starting to be lifted...

DNA is a good tool in aiding research, I have seen a lot of arguments and snobbery in some groups though. I do not pay it much thought, I have no Indian dna, it does not bother me.

The Wilsher’s have travelled counties of the UK for at least 250 years, mixing with all manner of groups of people.

Your news report research has helped me a great deal, some of them have really brought my tree to life.

Where did you do your dna?
If your on ancestry, my other of adding you to my private family tree still stands, I would think you’d find the Tree interesting.

Cheers,

Not sure who Viney is, I only purchase the book because it stated Wilsher family in the book list...

I spoke with the DNA match, he was directly from the Boswell family and said he knew of Wilshers’ camping in an area, in the past.

The Sarah Wilsher who married Noah Boswell is in the same extended Viney tree too...  I did attempt to trace where/If Sarah Wilsher Fitted in to the larger Wilsher tree, but had no luck.

That news article is really interesting, of Sarah and Joseph, also the Sarah and Noah one. There is defo a connection between the two families, I’d say late 1700s to early 1800s.

Hi,

Hope all is well too, I’m not to bad.

Boswell/wilsher connection

On Fred wilsher’s marriage certificate, son of Joseph/Marie, he states Joseph’s surname as Boswell Wilsher...

Also on my DNA we have distance match to a Boswell from the Viney Boswell family tree Book R&TFHS,
In that same book there is a Sarah wilsher married a Noah Boswell.

The match I have from that tree is on a different branch from Sarah and Noah, so there has to be a common ancestor between Wilsher's and Boswell family. I am about 90% sure Sarah Wilsher is part of the bigger family.

Other then that I don’t know much else I’m afraid, I have not seen any census or marriages... I would be extremely interested in reading the news article of Joseph and a Boswell fright together.

Cheers,

I don't know if you go on ancestry, but a person uploaded images of George Nelson 1854-1918, and wife Lavinia Herring 1857-1918.

George Nelson being the child of Letita Wilsher and Walter Nelson...
I did message the person but never got a reply, still interesting seeing their faces though.

Yes we are cousins? Were 3rd cousin, We share the same common Wilsher ancestors of the midlands... I’ve never said we were not.

The Nelson family camped with the Wilsher family... SeeIng there was Nelson people down south, made me wonder if any travelled there. Hence why I wanted to know if they linked together or were totally different groups....

The majority of my research, these last two years have been on my Wilsher family, then the Boyling and Woodward families. I want to branch out more to the families of our great aunties.

Yes I mention the south??

I was in a Facebook group, where the Nelson family was mentioned, that they were showmen being in the south...

Why would I not be interested if the Nelson families linked up, my research on that name is limited.

So in the two census, we have Wilsher & Nelson families

Lotis Nelson nee Wilsher being the child of William Wilsher & Lidia Willshaw nee Jones, camping in tents, fast forward 50 years and we have the grand child of William & Lidia, being Henry Wilsher with child Joseph, camping in caravans along side his 1st cousin 1xremoved Alexandra Nelson, Alexandra being the child of Walter Nelson & Lotis Nelson nee Wilsher.

I have seen on marriage certificate that Alexandra Nelson states he is a showman, out of interest are there many different trees of the Nelson family or are they all interlinked?

I seen that there were other showmen of Nelson down south.

There is a large Smith family in a neighbouring caravan to the Plumbs in the 1871 census.

Here Is Wilsher, Smith, Woodward at a fair ground, I keep meaning one day to trace the Woodward on it... I do Believe that Florence Ann Woodward age 15, is the child of John Woodward and Keziah Plumb too. The age would match and giving the family connection it would make sense.
