Hello, I am looking for my uncle's father. We only assume that he was stationed in Gosport. I am trying to find out which military was stationed in Portsmouth and the surrounding area during the Second World War. Can anyone please help me find out? Many thanks

the person i have a match with whose father i suspect is the adopted uncle.i have searched from ancestry to familysearch. there is no birth index of this man. Only a marriage index

I have the surname, I have the year, but not the date. Surely I can't request a birth certificate with that?

Hi Annie, my grandmother was a widow at the time of the uncle's birth.
She had given 2 children up for adoption. The one child is known. However that came about.
Unfortunately I have not been able to get any other information from the other siblings. They don't know any more. There is no birth certificate either.
So only the month, the year, the neighbourhood and the name are known.
