The information I posted earlier is from an online tree which may, or may not be reliable which is why you need to go back and check Australian records before searching in Ireland. If William Butterfield Algeo was the ancestor who came to Australia then if was before 1857.

The information you provided helped gain some clarity in understanding the information I had discovered in recent research - the issue I've been having is organising such information into a cohesive timeline.  I checked out the family tree you attached and looked up several sources (eg. Trove and state libraries), and it's starting to make sense now.

Said family tree also lines up (for the most part), with a well-researched, established family genealogy document in my family.

The genealogy document only went as far back as Charles, hence why I wasn't 100% sure who Charles' father or grandfather was at the time of my OP :)

I can confirm Charles Lockhart Algeo is my forebear, as I'm a decendant of the Crossinghams through Fanny (their daughter, Gretrude, is my 2x great grandmother).

One can understand my confusion with the emmigration document and the recent evidence presented before me.  And yes, I'm now going with the recent evidence over that document.  Also, Trove and Ancestry threw me for a loop and confused the life out of me, hence why I came here heheh

So William B. Algeo was the one who came out to Australia... does anyone have any further info on him? Also for Robert as well?

Side note: I recognised that PDF link as an excerpt from the Crossingham family tree book - I completely forgot about reading that book/page *facepalms*.

Embarrassingly I didn't heheh - I only knew about the one near Cloonclare (slight google maps fail on my part).

I'm now rather curious about the Tullyskeherny to the north of Manor - unfortunately I no longer have access to emigration document I viewed a couple of years back, due to a falling out with the relative who own said document.  I'm don't recall it specifying *which* Tullyskeherny my decendant is from, if at all.

Hi all,

Trying to get some clarification on a forebear of mine, Charles Algeo.  According to a passenger list I saw back in 2018, he emigrated to Sydney, Australia, from Tullyskeherny in the latter half of the 19th century.  For context: Charles is my 3x great-grandfather. ;)

Upon some recent research I have been doing on my family tree, I am now know that Charles' full name is Charles Lockhart Butterfield Algeo (aka Charles Lockhart Algeo).  I am trying to sus out fact from fiction, as the passenger list I saw clearly stated Charles was the one that emigrated from Tullyskeherny, yet recent research is suggesting that either his father (William) or possibly grandfather (Robert?) was possibly the one who emigrated to Sydney.

Any clarification on the matter would be greatly appreciated  :)
