Anglesey Lookup Requests / Mary Jones (nee Edwards) born 1850
« on: Thursday 17 July 14 15:15 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out the year and, hopefully, date of the death of my great grandaunt Mary Jones (nee Edwards).  She was born on 21st January 1850 at Garrag Wylan, Bodedern, Anglesey.  She married Hugh Jones in 1871.  There are several possible death dates, 1912, 1914, 1921 and two in December 1925, that I have discovered.  I would like to try and narrow down the year before sending for the death certificate.

Any help, however small, will be so gratefully appreciated.

Many thanks,
 :D

Cheshire / Maude Selina Myfanwy Edwards

The above lady was my mother's cousin.  She was born in 1922.  According to my researches, she might have married a Stanley C Warner in Bucklow, Cheshire in JAS 1958.  Would anyone be able to confirm that this is correct, please?
Many thanks,

Library and FHS Lookups / Inquest Report in Newspaper please
« on: Tuesday 26 June 07 01:07 BST (UK)  »
My husband's great-grandfather James Griffiths died on 4th April 1896 at 4 Overt Terrace, Cwmfelin, Llangwnwyd Middle.  His death certificate shows in the informant column that "Certificate received from Hywel Cuthbertson, Coroner for the Western Division of Glamorganshire.  Inquest held on 8th April 1896".  I have contact the appropriate records office but they do not have the details, and suggest a newspaper article is my best bet.  I believe the inquest might have been reported in any of the following newspapers.  Glamorgan Gazette, Western Mail, South Wales Echo, probably on microfilm in a reference library.  Can anyone help, please?  We don't know why there would have been an inquest, other than he died of Syncope, which I believe means that he fell down in a faint and apparently didn't get up again.  Why would this necessitate an inquest? Many thanks.  Rosie Griffiths ???

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Wilhelmina Gerrard

Thanks Richard,

I have gleaned all the date details for Ada Ashton Edwards from Ancestry, but have so far failed to find her birth registration details from findmypast.com or freeBMD, so wonder if it is wrong in Ancestry.  I am going to send for her marriage certificate so that I see how old she was, and hence when she was likely to be born.  I will send for her death certificate as well, as this might also give a clue as to when she was born, assuming that the date  of 17th May 1902 is incorrect.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: Wilhelmina Gerrard

Owen Henry Edwards born 17th October 1873 at Bloomsbury, Timperley Lane, Altrincham was the brother of my maternal grandfather, Hugh Edwards, who was born 10th January 1879 at 51 Oakfield Street, Altrincham.  Owen and Hugh are family names that have been used for generations (since 1688 so far as I have traced).  Owen Henry Edwards died on 20th November 1932 at 1 Albion Place, Salford.  His occupation was a Funeral Director but he and his wife Elsie Sarah (?) were in partnership with his sister Gertrude's husband John Bye as Furriers amongst other things.  It would appear that Owen Henry married more than once, as there is the child called Ada Ashton Edwards (Ashton was his mother's maiden surname) born 17th May 1902, purportedly by Wilhelmina Gerrard, who I cannot trace.  There are two other children, Michael Edwards and Myfanwy Edwards, purportedly from his marriage to Elsie Sarah (surname unknown).  My mother used to play with her cousins Myfanwy and Michael at Llanfachraeth, Anglesey, so perhaps we are looking at a second marriage in Wales.  Gertrude was John Bye's second wife and they lived in Anglesey.  I am stuck, and all help most gratefully appreciated.

I have been trying unsuccessfully to find the above lady, who purportedly married my grand-uncle Owen Henry Edwards around 1900.  Any help would be most gratefully received.  I cannot find her birth but there was supposed to have been a child, Ada Ashton Edwards, born in 1902 from her marriage to Owen Henry Edwards.  Possibly around Newcastle or Manchester.  Many thanks in advance.
