You would think that they would know their ages.
Birth year seems to vary between 1843/1844/1845/1848 on records !!!!!!!! We all know dates can vary.

IF his father was born in Germany then the spelling could be RUHLChristopher was born in 1843 too early for this chap to be his father?

That fits in with the 1900 census saying the father was born in Germany but surely too old be be a father but maybe another relation?
There was a Christoher Rule born 1775 Germany (weaver) living in Baltimore Ward 17, Baltimore, Maryland on the 1850 census. Sadly no other Rule members with him.
