I did notice that first reply which has now been removed, it was hardly welcoming to someone just joining. Hopefully OP will realise that we do want to help with their search and come back to us

That is interesting.  :)  Thank you.

Fortunately areas I am interested in now have registers online so I am able to recheck anything I need to, I no longer live close to a LDS centre but that information could be useful to someone who does

Thank you for letting us know that they are the same.

I am pleased to hear that your trip to the LDS was beneficial.  It is a shame that they closed so many of those centres here in the UK,  I did most of my initial research in one  which closed down without notice.

In the 1901 census he is in Winlaton, 19, living with parents John, 56, b. Billingham and Annie, 47, b Winlaton. His brother George is 28, also born Winlaton

You can view that entry on familysearch

Ronald Clarke Steele we really need you to give us some answers to our questions when you are next on here so that we can help you with your query.  :) :)

You say he went to Canada in 1852, do you have him or his parents on census prior to this
.   I see he has now been found in Canada in 1851,  do you have him in Scotland census in 1841

Where are you getting the names of his parents?

Your first link for the Canterbury wills is on Kent County Council (not Country) Archives web pages.  Does it mention if there is a charge for seeing the wills
