Yes there are oodles (very Lancashire expression?) of William Cassons! I do have a slight enigma and that is that I have a Mary Chambers b.1813 married to your William Casson first and they had a son called....William? But then I also have Mary Blekinsop married to him!! Was he married twice? Have I got the names written down here incorrectly?
I have a vague note that their son George was married to ANOTHER Mary...this one is a Hogarth? They had 8 children? Mary, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Margaret, Martha, George, Jane and Ann? I don't study other peoples lines generally as I always feel I am intruding without their consent!!! Anyway, yes I am interested and hope we can keep each other in the loop...I presume we are distant cousins and its lovely to feel less alone.
Regards Lyn

Sorry B but I don't seem to have any positive proof that Elizabeth was a Thursby...only distant cousins who came up with that name as a suggestion because they couldn't find any other likely partner for William Casson b.29.5.1784. I think that a marriage certificate would be a good idea (it would be a parish record though) and it could hold some excellent info. Do tell me if you find anything out as I would be rather interested. Sadly one of our 2nd/3rd cousins died last year as she has a wealth of family knowledge but I do know that like me, she was sceptical as to Elizabeth's parentage. I presume you come from William and Mary's line? I come from William's brother Thomas's line.

Westmorland / Re: Garnett family of Cowen Bridge and Leck

Hi Adey,

I was chuffed to hear from you....it always helps when you have someone to discuss FH with. I can only presume there is a good connection between the families as they are indeed within the same locality. I come down the Robert Garnett (abt 1700) line...his son George 1721....his son James 1763....his daughter Mary Garnett 1798 would be my Gtx3 grandmother and she married into the Parker Wilson family. However, for many years I have known that we were in some way related to the Carus family and I am the custodian of a very worn out silver thimble that was supposedly given to my Gt x2 grandmother from relations in the Carus family. For a long time I did presume it was probably the Wilsons, but recently I have changed my mind and think maybe it was to do with the Garnett's. Have you any connections with the above and or to the Carus family of Casterton? Hoping you have a few moments to reply. Regards Ladyholme.

Lancashire / Re: direction please in Salford

Yep certainly can....I know Martha Street existed in the 1890's and possibly could have done well into the early part of the 1900's.

Lancashire / direction please in Salford

Can anyone tell me where in abouts in Salford was Martha Street. It isn't on Google, so I can only presume that it no longer exists, or possibly it may have been renamed, but I would like to know for curiosity where it used to be please. Thanks

Thank you for looking for me Gerry. You can't always tell if folks put down their true age and birth date let alone their place of birth on an army record, that has been proven many times over, but my Richard's birth certificate is all I can go on for certainty.... my Richard Albert Casson/Miller was born on the fifth of January in the same year as your Richard claims (1911) but he was born in Oldham Lancashire. If Nancy adopted him and presuming he never actually knew he wasn't her biological son...there would be no need to lie about the day or place of birth, so I would say this isn't my Richard Albert Miller unless it can be proved otherwise.  :( :-\ All the same, I can't say thank you enough to all the people who have been helping me to discover what happened to my missing lad. Please keep looking.  :'(

Hi Alison, I think it was northern Queensland, or I believe it was, but as I am not that well educated over the geography of Australia I should study it more. It is a sad short coming in my education, which is my loss. There is a photo of the family on Booby Island..... Thank you for your help. It is much appreciated. Regards Lyn
