On the 1911 census occupation given as Butlers odder, Bleach Works, Cotton cloth. Has anyone any ideas as to what this was?

Found today in " The Soldiers New Testament", looks like he kept his original service number.

Thanks K Garrad, missed the "and/or" on the Application Part 2 form. I always had the service number on my previous requests.

Would it be safe to assume that as the photo is dated 1925 his service number could be 0034779?  I am trying to obtain his full service record.

Thanks Jon

Do you think that he would have retained the same service number without the prefix for WW2?

Phil

On the rear of this photo is written 8 June 1925 Ripon, Yorkshire. Dvs R. Nicholls T34779 R.A.S.C. attached R.A.M.  Robert Nicholls reenlisted for the Second World War, would he have kept the same service number? What does "Dvs" stand for and would "attached R.A.M." be Royal Army Medical Corps? Thanks.

It was the Royal Lancaster Regiment which was in Hong Kong 1897-1899. He enlisted in 1891 as just Harry Robinson and lied about his age however his next of kin on his military records confirm I have the right one. He served his 12 years and then in 1914 enlisted again for the duration of the war.
