I am attempting to trace an Alexander Williamson who appears on the 1851 Census aged 16 years. According to the Census he was living with his parents Alexander and Barbara Williamson as well as siblings and a Daniel McWilliam. He does not appear on the 1851 Census and it possible that he moved to Newcastle, Northumberland, England. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks Chris

Trying to trace descendants of Alexander Williamson who was form in Northumberland about 1853 and married a lady by the name of Sarah. They had two children Mary Ellen born abt 1881 and Alexander abt 1883. The 1901 Census shows that they were living at 60 Cannon Street, Elswick and both Alexanders were ship wrights at the ship yards. Cannot find any trace after the 1901 Census. Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks Chris

Hi Ashley.

This all the information I have about William's parents. I too have found the same information that you have.

I also have just got back from visiting his descendants and have found that they have very little information about his parents as he did not talk about his family in England. I have been able to locate a couple of pictures of his parents. On the back of his father's pciture the name Alexander has been written on it and the one of his mother Mrs Williamson has been written on it. So I am none the wiser as to what his mother's name was. All that it states on his death certificate is Father: Alexander and occupation Shop carpenter.

The other thing that I thought was that maybe Alexander was not there during the 1851 Census and his mother might have been boarding with someone.

Thanks for your help

Cheers Chris

Looking for information about William Williamson and his family. He was born in Newcastle in Nov 1848. His father's name was Alexander Williamson - possibly born in Scotland. Information known is that he successfully stowed away on a ship bound for Port Phillip, Victoria, Australia at the age of 14 years. He returned to Newcastle in 1912 to visit his brother and other members of his family. Would be grateful for any other information.

Thanks Chris

Northumberland / John Dodd born 1798 in Newcastle
« on: Saturday 15 September 07 10:05 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to locate information about John Dodd who was born in 1798 in Newcastle on Tyne. He was sentenced at the Mayor's Chambers in Newcastle-upon Tyne on 13th October 1817 for life in New South Wales, Australia and the charge was burglary of a shop owned by Mr B Bragg of Pilgrim Street. I have acquired a lot of information about John and his life in Australia but I have not been able to secure any information about John Dodd or Dodds life prior to transportation. If anyone has any information that they are willing to share it would be much appreciated.

Thanks Chris

Wiltshire / Looking for William HAMS
« on: Sunday 08 July 07 09:25 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying to locate the details of marriage for a William Hams and a Jane Baker but to no end. I know that William was born around 1826 and Jane Baker was born around 1821 and in the 1851 Census they were living in Melsksham, Wiltshire with their children William born 1845, Jeremiah born 1848 and a Sarah born 1850 but she died 1851. In 1856 they had another daughter named Sarah and the migrated to New South Wales, Australia before the 1861 Census. I have been searching all over the place for these people but to no avail. I know that my great grandfather was injured during WWI had spend his recovery time with family in Kent, so it possible that William Hams may he originated from Kent. Would be grateful for any information relating to these people. Thanks Chris
