Canada Lookup Request / My Old Penfriend
« on: Wednesday 11 August 10 21:52 BST (UK)  »
I had a penfriend in1958 and was last in touch with her in the late 60's.
We lost touch after I moved house and I found her address again when sorting through some old files.

One of those cases when life got in the way and as we get old and cast our minds back to "I wonder what happened to.........."

How can I find her again to see how life has treated her?

Her last address was West 29th Vancover 8 B.C.

South Africa / Re: Lillian Smith
« on: Saturday 03 July 10 20:52 BST (UK)  »

Thank you for your reply PaulineJ.

 Sadly I don't know Lillian's age.
Her father was THOMAS SMITH mother JEMIMA ANCIENT (married 1862 Hackney)

Alice Jemima was born about 1865-70 b. Hackney London.
We think there were at least 5 children of Thomas and Jemima, in what order we don't know. But they were all born in or around the Hackney area.

Harry, Thomas, Lillian, Albert  and Alice Jemima.

In 1911 Alice and her husband Horace and children were living in Bow Street Birmingham.

I am grateful for your reply. :)

Lillian Smith b London England married ????? and moved to South Africa. One child was called Alex/ Alec. It is believed they had a farm or small holding in South Africa.
Lillian came to Birmingham England to see her sister ALICE JEMIMA HERBERT nee Smith in the 1950's. Alice married in 1890 at St Saviour London to HORACE HERBERT
Vague I know but the dreaded Smith name has only just come up in this family and I am finding it hard.

Can someone help pleeeeease? A shot in the dark I know  ???

First I would like to thank you both for taking the time to answer my post.

I have search the IGI and am still in the dark. I have seen the 2 Philip's there and have them logged.

I have also found a marriage of a RICHARD HERBERT & ANN HATHERWAY at NAUNTON 1737. What drew me to this marriage was the statement that they were both living at HOMS LEASON in the parish of STANWAY...........but does the date fit for Philip's birth??

So now I have 2 Richards!!!  ???

Oh well................onwards and upwards.........the search goes on  ;D

Thank you both again for your help  :)

Gloucestershire / Philip HERBERT

Hi,I have hit that inevitable brick wall.

For a long time I have been looking for the parents of PHILIP HERBERT believed to be born at STANWAY GLOS.

I have his marriage to ANN WHILLOCK on 26/02/1759.

I think PHILIP was born about 1735-1737 but I can't be certain.

He died about 1801 and is said to be buried in STANWAY.

I have looked and searched for his birth but to no avail.

I'm flummoxed as to where to go to next   ???

Maybe a fresh pair of eyes and a keener brain than I have got can find
 my missing man  :).................please  :-*

:) Wow.........I see where you are going now. I didn't realize that step children were put down as son/daughter in law.

Many thanks again to you both for your kind help.

We will follow this up and I'll let you know how we get on.

Can I find Jenifer's first marriage do you think? Maybe John and Jenifer were related?

I haven't found a death yet for John within the time scale only one in June 1859 in Redruth.........what do you think?

Again, I thank you both for your help and sorry kris for being so thick and not understanding your answers  :P
