Hi J C

I have left a message for you and would very much like for you to get in touch with me.

Re. our possible family connection.

William was I believe Samuel's brother in the 1881 census, he was staying at 16 Selbourne Rd, Havant with Samuel and his family. :)

Hi Everyone,

I wasn't expecting any come back on my post yesterday.
So thank you again.
I'm a little confused as 1841 census has Samuel down as John & also 1861 find my past parchment makers.
You also said that Miriam is a Hebrew name which I had thought,I keep hearing people say if your
mother's Jewish then you are too.
The reason we believed Samuel to have Jewish parentage is because of;
On  Samuel's death they buried him in the Jewish part of one of the cemetery's in Havant.  However, when his wife died she was buried on the other side of the cemetery, as our family wasn't allowed to have her buried with her husband as she had requested. :'(

Thank's again. :)
Sheila

Hi

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to help me find Samuel Taylor's birth certificate,
on the 9th of May.
With your help I sent  for the birth certificate of Samuel born in 1840 Steyning.
His parent's were as you had found  John and Miriam.
I am still not sure where the Jewish part come's from as Miriam's surname was Bridger and she was born in Goldalming, perhaps it was Miriam's mother.
However,I am really pleased that I now have a family for Samuel. ;D

Thank you again.

Sheila. ;)

Hi Annette

So do you think it is possible that John snr. and John jnr. are Samuel's father and brother,I am really impressed  :D with how much all of you have come up with,I wouldn't of known where to start. I think I must of found Stenning when I was looking on the census, I only found one which I believe was 1871 .

Question for Toni is William, Samuel's Brother or Samuel's Daughters Brother?

I am so grateful for all of your input.

Sheila :)

Samuel's death certificate said that he died at the age of 44 which confirms what we had always been told.
He died in January 1886 in Havant Hampshire.
Which would suggest that he was born in 1842.

Sheila

If there is anyone who would like the two certificates I have obtained, if it ties up with their families I am happy to send them to them.

One is Samuel born 1844 with the mother Martha Jones Father John Taylor Shoe maker .

The other is Samuel 1842 Mother Charlotte formally Young father Charles Labourer.

:-[Mum just told me that she thought it was St George Bristol. :-[ not Stenning still not 100% sure.
Yes the information on the family that you have found is correct.
The marriage took place in The parish of St Lawrence Reading Berkshire.29 July 1860.
Witnesses were Anne's sister Sarah brother in law Charles Keel who was a Shoemaker.
Anne, father was Moses Pinfold.

Family History Beginners Board / Trying to obtain correct Birth Certificate
« on: Friday 09 May 08 11:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone,

I am trying to obtain a birth certificate for my Great Great Grandfather,so far I have two which do not connect to him.
However,I do have his marriage and his death certificate.
His name was Samuel Taylor  he was born in 1842 in  Gloucestershire, My mother believes it was Stenning. His fathers name was John and he was a Parchment maker as was Samuel.
We are not sure but we think his mother was Eliza.
Samuel was married to an Anne Pinfold in the parish of St Lawrence Berkshire.
As we do not wish to keep sending off for unwanted certificates we wondered if anyone could throw some light on this for us.

There is a  possibility that he was Jewish or one or both of his parents.
