The Lighter Side / Re: Is the story about teeth removal true?
« on: Thursday 05 May 22 10:05 BST (UK)  »
I was told that my Aunt went in to have one of her teeth removed and was put under a general anaesthetic. She woke up to find all her teeth had been removed! This would have been in the 40's or 50's.

Thank you for your suggestion. I will certainly apply for the will and see if this helps.

Other Countries / Death in Venezuela?

Did Joyce Maria Scott die in Venezuela in 2009 as suggested by a tree on A********?
Joyce Gardiner was born in1923 in Stroud, Gloucestershire and is believed to have married twice, first to Jaroslav Slepica in 1945 and then James Francis Scott jn 1951 in Surrey North West. Both husbands died before 2000. Does anyone have any ideas how I can confirm this death in an unexpected location.

The Stay Safe Board / Re: Vaccination priority groups
« on: Thursday 29 April 21 09:44 BST (UK)  »
As a follow up to my earlier post, thank you for the advice given.

I still had heard nothing about our second AZ jabs by this morning although the12 weeks is up tomorrow. I ignored the surgery website and the recorded message saying not to contact them about vaccination. I phoned and we now have appointments for Saturday afternoon at the village hall about 5 miles away where we had our first jabs- so only a day out.

Thanks for your help Dorrie. We live in England and were phoned about the first appointment which was at a local village hall. If we do not get a call tomorrow I will try to book appointments through the NHS website.

Glad to learn that you have managed to get second jab appointment so soon after first. We had our first jab appointments of the AZ vaccine on 5th February and have heard nothing since. GP surgery website says do not contact them about jab appointments. I wonder if many have had to wait more than 12 weeks for the second jab.

Norfolk / Re: Maria Laskey from Norwich

Yes.  I think you are both right. I had originally thought it was the Costessey Maria because Costessey is much closer to Norwich and I had not spotted the burial. It is possible the Costessey Maria was an Aunt to the younger one, looking at the names on their trees. Thanks for the advice.

That probably suggests she was the 1811 Maria whose mother was Mary Ann. My Maria's first daughter was  Ann Maria. The other Maria had a Susannah as her mother. Thank you for the suggestion.

Norfolk / Maria Laskey from Norwich

A Maria Laskey married William Gardner in October 1831 at St Georges Hanover Square. The witnesses were the next couple to get married.
She was born in Norwich according to at least 2 censuses. I am trying to find out if she was the one baptised 15 March 1808 in Costessey or the one baptised 13 Sept 1811 at Aylsham. I had thought she was the first but there appears to be a burial for a 14 year old Maria in Eaton in 1822.
The age given for Maria fluctuates between censuses. She is shown as 25 in 1841, 40 in 1851, 52 in 1861 and 64 in 1871 (when she was in the workhouse)
Any suggestions which is the right set of parents for this Maria?
