I not quite sure, as I don't have a debit card for Scotlandspeople can't buy credits to see the image.

All I know for sure is that her father John died before she married in 1896.

Have tried to look through inverclyde BMD but it does not give a lot of info on either Fergusons or Drummond.

Looking for info on my Girlfriends family. I have traced back to her G Grandmother Jane Ferguson.

Only real info on her is that she married James Drummond in Greenock on the 29th Dec 1896, and have her parents as John Ferguson & Mary Miller.

Would love to know if Jane had any siblings and where she came from, was she born in Greenock? and did her father John die on the 7/1/1883.

Any help would be appreciated.

What was your GGG Grandas name? just that I descend from Quigleys that moved to Greenock around 1855.
My 4x G Granda,  Dennis & his brother John (moved to Glasgow then Greenock), could they be related to your own search? All I Know of them were they they were born in Donegal, Ireland, think the place was Eschine.

Anyone have details of George(1818) 1st Marriage to Isabella Somerville?

Have gone through Scotlandspeople and found only 1 child born to the couple, that of Isabella D Swan(1847). The other child George(1840) can't be found. Though in the 1841 Census he is shown along with parents as being George & Isabella.

What else confuses me is that he is supposed and went on to have children, before dying in 1870. The children are supposed to be as follows Mary Anderson Swan, Georgina Isabella Sommerville Swan & James Murray Ramsay Swan.  Mary Anderson(1865) may be legit, but the other 2 remain a mystery. Georgina(1871) & James(1872) pose a problem, how if George(1840) if legit can be desceased in 1870 go on and have another 2 kids????

It may be a few weeks before I can look into this, in the meantime has anyone have docs to prove the pedigree??

Rena,

As for Catherine did she marry an Alexander Strathdee? if so have found 1 entry for them in the 1901 Census giving that they had a son also named Alexander born 1900.

George had a few siblings, Margaret(1814) & John(1816). Though someone else claims he had another sister born in 1830 named Janet.

Your correct about the 1861 Census about John(5), he was my 2x G Granda. Have you been in contact with an Irene McKenzie? she shares the Swan lineage as well. She is related down through George & Mary and their daughter Jemima(1872).

Will attatch a few images in my next post.

Hi Rena

MY connection if through my Mums side of the family,  George Swan & Jane Susan Clark.
So my lineage would be

George(1818) - John(1856) - John(1885) - John O'Hara(1911) - Margaret(my mum) then myself.

As you can see George would be my 3x G Granda, and yes I still live in Scotland. As far as I know that my Mums Dad were the only ones  to move to the West Coast, the others by large still live in or around Edinburgh and the Liberton area. Have traced a few distant cousins and half cousins to Canada & NZ even down to England.

Anything that you have would be of value, as I am willing to share any docs that I have showing my connection to George(1818).

Cheers

Hi Rena

If you could post details it would be very welcomed, as you know you get bits and pieces of info.

As I got info, found out that George(1818) was married 3 times, to Isabella Sommerville, then to Jane Susan Clark & Mary Clark. So still a lot of catching up to do.

Cheers

Just catching up with this thread after a while, looks like the same person who I'm looking for info on.

Matthew Beattie married Agnes Harper in 1893 and had the following children, Isabella(1896) & Margaret(1900).
