Just in case the line from the Greyhound is not the one you are looking for, I too am a Sephton, but my Sephtons came from the south and were not anything to do with the boats, my grandfather was william who married Violet Elizabeth, he had a sister Annie and they all lived in the Paradise area of Coventry, it is proving tough but happy to collaborate.

Hi I have a Lizzie Stephens who with 3 of her sisters living with her in 1901 is listed as a club manageress, one sister is a milliner and the other 2 are dressmakers, my question is my mother rememebers rumours of a relative running a borthel, would this have been that relative? The address on the census is 28 High Street Cardigan, has anyone any knowledge of what the likelyhood of this being the case please? Any advice on where to find more info or books that may help would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks, is there any info on what town/village George was born in? I have tracked quite a lot on Rosinas side but have reached a brick wall with George so grateful for any help on his side. Do you think it possible he went to London for work as a gamekeeper he lived by Windsor, never know he perhaps worked at Windsor park!!!! lol

Warwickshire / Payne and Baker Claybrook street Birmingham
« on: Thursday 06 August 09 21:45 BST (UK)  »
David Payne and Lizzie Baker lived in Claybrook Street in Birmingham, they moved to a caravan at some point during their early marriage which was at Nether Whitacre, thye moved back to Birmingham and one day David left the home never to return, this would probably have been mid 1930's. Lizzie was my mother in laws aunty, whom she was brought up with as sisters,Liz then had a lodger Jack Gedling, despite searching when David first left he was never herd of again. In her twilight years my mother in law has asked if I can find anything out about what and where David went, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks  I do hope this is the right one, I have Rosina, or Rosmeena born at so many different places, all in Berkshire but she really changed her mind everytime a census was filled in!!!
If I get a copy of her marriage certificate, which I know is the right person will it give me her fathers name?

Harriett, Arthur and Samuel are all names of children of George and Rosina so it feels right as though she named her children after her brothers and sisters, no more Cornelius's though!

Thank you for this link yes this is her, I knew George was a policeman but was sacked for being inebriated, previous to this my mother says he was a gamekeeper in Foy in Herefordshire.
So I can possibly look for her earlier now so I can identify her parentage?

I thought it may be useful to share with you the hours I spent yesterday up a wrong turning I think. On the 1901 cnesus I found Eliza Skinley living with Arthur and Fred bot her sons, Rose her daughter, mother in law Elizabeth and visitors Martha Bezznt abd George and Edmund Etheridge, both adult womwn were widowed and the were living at 27 Aspinden Road, Rotherhithe. I got all excited thinking Rose could have been Rosina but realised that the birth date was too late, 1883 and she was born in Newcastle on Tyne, although her brother was born in Windsor, so it may be that they are somehow connected they did tend to stay with the same names in families didn't they, perhaps an aunt, uncle, cousin or some such
