Essex / Re: Ernest Christian Twigger.

Slightly complicated have been trying to work it out myself, but putting as simply as I can, Eusebius, father of Richard James, who was father to Ernest Christian, was the brother of Thomas Twigger my grt grt grandfather. Which means that he was Thomas Twigger's grt nephew.
The dates I have for Eusebius are 1837-1890. Married Elizabeth Randle b1844. Not checked those dates recently are on my Genes Reunited site family tree. My grandfather was Thomas William Twigger and grt grandfather Ambrose Twigger. Did your family stay in London or do you have family connections to Warwickshire? Thanks for post. H.

Hi yes I'm always interested in any new information. How are you related to him? I put him on the British legion website as I didn't know if any closer family knew of him. Eusebius and Jonathan both moved to London for work, but a lot of  Twiggers stayed in Bedworth either mining or silk ribbon weaving. Look forward to hearing from you.

United States of America / Re: Benjamin and Carrie Grills.

Thanks to all who helped in my quest for the Grills family in Kilkeel and USA. Spoke to my friend yesterday and she thinks that Kiwiwalły is likely to be related to her great aunt Meta who went to New Zealand. Her middle name is Meta after her aunt Meta and probably before that her great aunt. I have suggested she registers on here then she can contact you here first. Thanks again euansma

hi there, can't believe I found your post, not really expecting to find the info I was looking for.Sorry I don't have the info you are looking for but you have just given me Alice Elizabeth Cherrington who married Frederick Stuart or Steward Driver in Ceylon, not sure what date but their daughter was born in 1885, Gertrude Maud Emily Driver. They Had another child a son born 1892 William, and they are in the 1901 census at Freshwater Isle of Wight.Have been trying to find out about what work Frederick Driver was doing in Ceylon so your post may help there too.Gertrude married Charles Frederick Russell whose military records are om ancestry.Their daughter Rhona is the grandma to my daughter in law. I also found something on a website which has some foreign records and mentioned Henrietta H Cherrington and Bridget Mary Cherrington. Very difficult to read but seemed to say Ceylon 1882 413 for both. I was looking up marriages but not sure that was what I got.Hope to hear from you know it was a year ago but interested to see if you have made progress. Best wishes euansma

Thanks to both of you for finding it for me. Obviously using the wrong map. What is the definition of a townland? Is it a town or a larger area? Thanks.

Cavan / Parish of Edentariff near Belturbet
« on: Saturday 30 August 14 18:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, Have got the attestation papers for John Mccall for the Crimea in 1854. He puts down Parish Edentariff, Belturbet, Cavan for his birthplace. I have only found a mention of Edentariff in a piece written about a journey around Lough Erne describing it as being a few miles from Belturbet. Have not found it on any old map have looked back to 1830 and no sign of it. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.
