Hello everyone,

With reference to my original post about my 9xGrandfather William Baynton and his place of birth, well I have had some new info come to light and I have found another additional marriage document, which states that, 'William is of Wootton Rivers but now of Wolshill Joan is of Westcots'. Also that his wife Joan Baning was of Westcots. As we know they were married on the 2 May 1586 Burbage, Wiltshire. I have also reassessed his date of birth as I now believe he was born about 1555 and not around 1541 as I initially stated. The reason for this is that I think that this is a more plausible date. Given that I now know where William came from, I may be able to find a birth record for him and more importantly his parents. What I would like to ask is if there is anyway that I can gain access to these records or if indeed if any exist. Any help would once again be most welcome and very greatfully appreciated.

Best Wishes, on this super hot weekend

Simon

Hello Derek,

Many many thanks, greatly appreciated. This will hopefully now help in tracking down their children, although I am not sure where to look.

Thanks again for your help

Best regards

South Africa / Morgue/Baynton

Hello all,
I am trying to locate my Great Aunts family. Her name was Ann Elizabeth Baynton, she married a gentlemen called Charles Herbert Morgue in August 1899 in Bethnal Green. They had one daughter born in Bethnal Green, England in November 1899, her name was also Ann Elizabeth. They then emmigrated to a place called Observatory, I believe this is now a suburb of Johannesburg in 1903. Charles and Ann then went on to have we think four more daughters, Gladys, Lillian, Joyce and Eileen. If any one out there could help it would be very much appreciated, as I do not know how to see overseas records or indeed make contact.

Thank you very much indeed. At least I can now rule this out once and for all and hopefully I can look at the suggestions which you have very kindly mentioned. I was having another look on the LDS site and found the only possible match. This was for a William Baynton baptised 1541 in Milton Ernest, Bedfordshire. Also there is a possible sister called Margaret baptised in 1541 as well. Sadly there is again no Father listed. Rather oddly there is another village called Bromham, just a couple of miles away and the main family here is the De Beauchamps whom are also related to the Wiltshire ones.

Thank you once again for your time and effort it has been very greatly appreciated.

Best wishes,

Simon.

I hope someone out there can help. I am trying to find out more info on my 9xgtgrandfather and his wife. His name was William Baynton, born abt 1546 in Wiltshire. His wife was called Joan Baning and they married on the 02 May 1586 —Burbage, Wiltshire, England. They had one son, his name was John Baynton born 1585 and baptised 16 July 1585 in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England, he was my 8xgtgrandfather. I believe that William's father was Sir Edward Baynton and his Mother was Lady Elizabeth Leigh. However the only thing I can find is for a gentlemen of a similar birth, then having died abt 1564. So this therefore cannot be the same. I believe that Joan was William's second wife and that he was married before as I have found a possible match for a William Baynton to DENNIS COSSEN on 20 OCT 1569 in Whiteparish, Wiltshire, England. The area's that the family were in up untill they moved to London in abt the 1750's were Dursley, Trowbridge, Gt Bedwyn, Huish, Burbage. I am really hoping that some one may know something as I am really at a complete dead end, any comments would be very greatly appreciated.

Hello Nicola, Thank you again. I see so this was rather common then to have a wide age range between sibblings.  I have looked into Samuel's wifes family and have not found anything at all on his sons middlename of Strickland, so this is why I think that this was Samuel's mother maiden surname. I see so if they were married before 1754 that is why I am unable to find anything. Lastly thanks again for taking the time to look, your time and effort is very much appreciated.
Best Regards, Simon

Nicola, Sorry about that and also to Kris, maybe I should have stated that before I had made an earlier posting. I thought that this birth may have been to early to be connected as there is 20years between James and the youngest Sarah. However it could well be correct. The thing is that I have still failed to find what Thomas wife's maiden surname was. So what I then did was to take the youngest child as I knew. In this instance Thomas and then fitted a possible marriage to them and the only one that I could find was a Thomas Baynton to a Mary Hurley on 03 MAY 1762 at St Phillip & St Jacobs, Bristol, Gloucester, England. I have also thought that her maiden surname might have been Strickland as their grandson William Baynton has the middlename Strickland. William Strickland Baynton was my 3xGtgrandfather and his father was Samuel Baynton. However because I cannot find a marriage cert for his grandparents I have found myself completely stuck. I do not know how to access the other index's which you have kindly mentioned. My sincere appologies if I have wasted your time as this was not my intention. I am still a novice on trying to find out how to use other info.
Best Regards,
Simon.

Dear Nicola and Kris, Thank you both very much indeed for you assistance. It is very greatly appreciated. I must say I am rather amazed at how you manage this, as I found myself at a dead end. I wonder how possible it is to work back from this in the hope of going to the very early bayntons. I have been using the LDS site as well although there does seem to be gaps in this site. I would also be willing to share the info I have as you both have been very kind in helping. I look forward to hearing from you both.
Very best regards Simon.
