annclare,
Thank you for the links. James' family moved to Newfoundland in the mid to late 1800's (I think). There was a Jeremiah who died in 1880. There is no record of he or Kate in Newfoundland records. Since James' mother passed away in Moglass in 1865, I would imagine that they were still living there as a family at that time. Is there any way to find headstone inscriptions from that area? I had a look at the current layout of Moglass and surrounding towns and there seems to be a limited number of Catholic churches. Do they all have cemeteries? Sorry for the extra questions but being so far away and not being familiar with the land makes it difficult to envision the ease/complexity of finding out answers.

thanks again,
shawn

Thanks for the link Dara. Too bad it isn't the family I am looking for. I appreciate you taking the time to read and reply to my post. Hopefully there will be more replies.

Tipperary / Boland family from Co. Tipperary
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 00:56 BST (UK)  »
Would some kind person help? I am at a loss around 1815! My family history shows that James Boland was born in Mogglass, County Tipperary in 1815. He had four children I know of with Ellen (nee Nagle/Neagle). William P. born 1854, Michael J. born 1855, Jeremiah died 1880 and Kate who has no records. I also know that his mother (Boland side)died and was buried in Mogglass in January 1865. Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Shawn Boland

Family History Beginners Board / Boland Family Request
« on: Thursday 03 September 09 22:18 BST (UK)  »
After reading my post reply I think I have enough information to maybe hope that another Forum member can help with my research. ANY information that can be added to this is more than my family has and is GREATLY appreciated.
James Boland; born Moyglass circa 1814;died 1891; married Ellen (Neagle) born circa 1814; died 1896. Both buried in Newfoundland
Children:
Jeremiah - died September 1880
Kate - ?
Michael J. born Feb 28, 1855 - died June 15, 1917. Buried in Newfoundland
William P. born Jan 4, 1854 - died Aug. 4, 1925. Buried in Newfoundland.
William, in a diary, makes a reference to Grandmother Boland dying in Moyglass, Tipperary, Ireland on Jan. 24, 1865 after a five month illness. Also Mary Casey (aunt...Mother's Sister) died June 1867.

Again, ANY information is appreciated. I am trying to compile as much as possible for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary on Nov.11 so I have some time to hope for the best.

Thank you all,
shawn

Family History Beginners Board / Boland's in Moglass 1813-14
« on: Thursday 20 August 09 22:37 BST (UK)  »
Good Day forum members,
This is my first try posting so I hope this is correct. I am searching for the above but I don't know what county or parish. I know my family, historically, are Roman Catholic but I am still unsure of what I specifically need to request. The basic info, as far back as family records go, are James Boland born in 1813-1814 in Moglass Tipperary. That is all I can tell other than he died in Newfoundland in 1891. Thanks to any and all who help guide me as to where to search.
