Hello there,
I must tell you that your having sent me the Death Registration and information on Stanley's gravesite has been such a blessing to us.

After receiving your information, I was inspired to track down the CEF sites and found the CEF Work Study Group. I gave them the combined information(yours and mine) and they, too, have responded so enthusiastically, I really can't believe it.

They found newspaper clips of Stanley at Summit Lake from the prince George newspapers and now, one of them is going to visit the cemetery and take pictures. Thank you for getting that information for us.

This sad, but at least we know. He may have had good friends. We hope so! Your offer of the complete certificate is really generous. Our e mail is: (*)Now, another question...How do we make sure that his grave is marked as a Canadian Veteran?
Thank you so much for all your work on this subject. I had no idea we could get so much information.

Hello,
First of all, thank you so much for getting this information for us. It is a real breakthrough! The Death Certificate that I got/paid for from the BC Archives was very"bare bones".  It was called an "extract from the registration on file". It certainly is more than 20 years since he died and I explained the family connection but not too much info. There was no Next of Kin, no Cause of Death, No informant, no address and no connection to his Military service. It states his DOD, Place of Death , Birthplace - England and Residence - Prince George.
I will certainly contact the Funeral Home and see if there were family members mentioned. At this point, I am thinking he died a solitary death but "who knows?". I am especially wondering if his grave is marked as a Canadian War Veteran.. From his Service records, we see that he was severely wounded with gun shot wounds to his legs and SOS to Port Hastings on demobilisation.
From his obit it says he seved in WWII ..so he must have recovered sufficiently to do that.
Anyway...I will write and see what I can do. Many thanks once again!

Hi,
I wrote by "snail" mail and included a self addressed stamped envelope hoping for some info, at least a confirmation that he was buried in that cemetery and the grave location. But did not get a reply.
Since my first message to you, I have researched a bit of the 29th Battalion (Vancouver) and found Stanley's name and number on their roll muster. This is very encouraging to me.

Hello,I am trying to find out information on our uncle Stanley Palmer b Nov 1886  Hillingdon England and died in British Columbia June 15, 1966. I ordered a Certificate of Death from the Vital Statistics Agency  Prov. of BC which gives me very little information on Next of kin, Cause of Death etc. I also was able to get a copy of the Obit in the Vancouver Sun  saying he was formerly from Prince George, served in the first World War 29th Battalion and also the 2nd World War. Service was in Mount PLeasant Chapel, Kingsway at 11th Ave and internment in the Victory Memorial Cemetery. I wrote to the Cemetery service in Surrey but have had no response. I have his service records but can find no records in the Veteran's Website or a confirmed place of burial.
Do you have any suggestion? I would like to make contact with some of his family if that is possible.

Hi,
I do know that Mary Jane Palmer wa smaried to Frank Hollege and that they had one child Dorothy Isobel. That marriage ended in divorce. Her second marriage to Albert Van Klaveren was probably after 1889 or around that time. I will have to order the certificate to confirm. Mary's death is confirmed at 1904 as inscribed on her headstone. The death certificate has been ordered and she died in St George Hanover Square which is why I thought the avoe suspected marriage was a possibility. Albert must have been quite unlucky with wives if his next wife died two years later. I wonder if the 1909 marriage latsed a little longer.

Hello again,
This is a long shot, but came after I trawled through all the Van Klaverens and Palmers (I think) on Ancestry. I have a Albert Edward Van Swadein married to Jane Palmer in 1898 In St George in the East Vol 1C p. 815. Mary Palmer's name is really Mary Jane Palmer and Van Swadein...well..I have written it out in long hand  and it could be.....?
