Thanks Alli, that's brilliant.

Were there any other details e.g. address, places of birth?

Nick.

Thanks Casalguidi,

That's helped a lot. William's apprenticeship was from  1892-1897, which is why his job is different.

I have checked 1837online but to no avail.

Happy hunting!

Nick.

Hello Casalguidi,
From my grandad's birth certificate I found out his father, William Thomas Saunders was a Lighterman. I found him on the 1901 census, age 26, a Waterman & Lighterman born in Greenwich, Kent living at 20 Inverine Road, Charlton. He was married to Mary A. (Jackson), 27 from Charlton, Kent. I found their marriage certificate from 8 Aug 1896, when William was 20 living at 27 Troughton Road, his father was John Saunders, a labourer. William T. was born on 2 Nov 1875 in Greenwich East (from Waterman records)but I cannot find his birth cert. In 1881 a William Thomas Saunders lived at 20 River Terrace, Greenwich but his labourer Dad was James not John. William's brother James matches the witness on the marriage cert.

Could someone please look up William Thomas Saunders (born Nov 1875 in Greenwich East) age 15 in 1891? His father was John Saunders (maybe also known as James), a labourer (age unknown). He probably had a brother called James. Unfortunately, I have no other details.

Many Thanks,

Nick.

Hello Jonathon,

I've now managed to find that information.

Thanks,

Nick.

Frederick Ward, born 14 November 1845 at 13 Victory Street Saint Pauls Deptford. Father Charles William Ward, Wheelwright and mother Harriet Ward formerly Cannon. Registered 26 December 1845. Thomas Marchant, Registrar. Reg Dist Greenwich, Sub Dist Saint Pauls Deptford in Counties of Kent and Surrey.

Births Dec 1845 Greenwich vol 5 page 214.

I thought this was my gg grandfather (born Bermondsey) but the fathers name and occupation were not Charles John Ward, printer. I've taken calculated risks before and alwas been lucky but not with this one. I hope someone finds this useful.

Nick.

I've posted those details and been given the 1861 census details now.

Thanks, Nick.

Thanks Jonathan,

That's them. There were more there than I expected, although elsewhere in my family tree the Heasmans had 11 children! I have enough trouble looking after one  ;)

Cheers,

Nick.
