hello,
i would like to know if any of my evans ancestors were  still in the small village of wootton in 1861.

they were there in 1841 and 1851, and even before censuses came out.

the evans' were mainly farmers but quite prominent in the village.

they lived in water lane and green lane in particular. many are buried in the st george the martyr church yard in wootton.

my ggg grandparents ( thomas and mary)  had a farm in water lane, when they died in the 1840's it was taken over by their 2nd son john stanton evans.

their first son - thomas evans  was killed in a shooting accident.

also my ggg uncle and aunt ( john stanton and honour evans), had a farm in green lane, but died in the 1850's.

there may of course be other evans' living in wootton, but i have not found any yet.

hello,
i am looking for a christening record, to find out who robert benham's parents were.

robert benham was born on the 15th february 1799 in st helier, so i am hoping that he was christened around this time.

i suspect that his parents are william robert benham, born around 1768 in st helier and jeanne dolbel, who married in st helier  on the 2nd february 1793.
