Cornwall / Jane BLAKE parish record entry, 1756 St Endelion
« on: Saturday 11 June 05 09:50 BST (UK)  »
If there is some kind soul out there with access to the actual parish record book for St Endellion (Truro Record Office ?) I would be very grateful if the actual wording of an entry could be checked.
I need to check the Christening of JANE BLAKE, 30 May 1756, St Endellion.
On the IGI her mother is recorded as MARY BLAKE.  I need to know if Jane was born "a base child" (or whatever description looks similar).

I would be most grateful if anybody could help.

All the best

Huntingdonshire / WILES family in St Neots
« on: Sunday 17 April 05 00:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi
We are searching for any information about the WILES families of St Neots.
Our first link back to St Neots is a George or Reuben Wiles (he seems to have used either name).  We think he was born around 1800. He was later recorded as a Bricklayer.  His wife was Susanna Dennis. (married 1822, St Neots)
The familiy moved to Islington sometime before the birth of their daughter Catherine Wiles in 1841.
As broad search of the usual sources reveals quite a few WILES families in and around St Neots so hopefully there are others out there that may be able to help.
Thanks

Buckinghamshire / Shabbington - STEDEN
« on: Thursday 17 February 05 11:29 GMT (UK)  »
I am completely stuck with Martha STEDEN, born Shabbington ~1838 (from Census)
The name is as written on her marriage certificate (to Thomas Lovell) but Steden seems a rare name.
Are there any other Stedens anybody is aware of.

Durham / West Auckland Colliery
« on: Friday 04 February 05 22:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Does anybody know if records were kept of people working in the collieries about 1900.  I have ancestors, BATIE, living in and around West Auckland known to be coal miners from marriage cetificates and censuses, and on the assumption that they walked to work must have worked at the West Auckland colliery.  I have visited the sites that give info about the mine owners and those that died in the mine - but what about those that survived the experience !
Maybe payroll records somewhere?
Any advice much appreciated.

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / 1851/41 Census request - Shabbington
« on: Monday 31 January 05 07:10 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for Martha Steden, born Shabbington in 1838.
She would therefore be about 13 in the 1851 census (if she was still in Shabbington) or about 3 in the 1841 census.
Unfortunately I don't know any other family members, but the poulation of Shabbington was pretty small then so I'm hoping !

Thanks for any help

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Upper Andrew St, Silvertown gone !
« on: Monday 31 January 05 07:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All

I have gggrandfather in 1881 census of Silvertown, Plaistow (RG11/1716 145 p37) at 27 Upper Andrew St.
Upper Andrew St. seems to not be there now.  Does anybody know if it was destroyed in the Blitz, or disappeared as a part of redevelopment of the area ?

Any help appreciated

Steve
