Gloucestershire / John James Wilson---Cheltenham
« on: Saturday 17 April 10 23:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi.  I am looking for any info on John James Wilson who lived at 2 Gloucester Crescent, Cheltenham in the year 1875.  John James Wilson was listed on the death record of John Wilson, age 68 years, who died at 180 Great Brunswick St., Dublin.  I am trying to figure out if John James Wilson was his son or another relation and if there is a family listed on a census for him.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

I am seeking a birth record on William Dann Gordon [born around 1849], son of Alexander Gordon and Catherine nee Dann.  Alexander and Catherine were married [year 1848] in Mountrath in the parish of Clonenagh.  The family may have moved to Dublin by 1850 or so.  Thank you for any help.

Laois (Queens) / Gordon/Dann marriage record-Mountrath
« on: Sunday 28 February 10 12:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hello. I just received a marriage record for Alexander Gordon and Catherine Dann, married July 18, 1848.  The record states Registrar's district of Mountmellick. Marriage solemnized at Mountrath in the Parish of Clonenagh in the QueensCounty.  His occupation was housepainter and hers milliner.  Residence at time of marriage was Ballyfin.  Father's names were William Gordon, housepainter and William Dann, farmer.  They were married in the Church of Mountrath....of the United Church of England and Ireland.   Witnesses were William Gordon and Mary A. Dann.  I am trying to establish if this couple is my husband's g-g-g-grandparents.  I have his 2x-grandparents as William Dann Gordon [Alexander's son]and Catherine Wilson.  On William and Catherine's marriage record it lists William's father as Alexander Gordon, housepainter.  I found the marriage record on LDS for Alexander Gordon and Catherine Dann, so I ordered it as a gamble because of William's middle name of Dann.  I am looking to see if anyone has any connection to this family and also for any advice on what to do next to document or prove that Alexander Gordon is the one I am looking for.  I have never found a birth record yet for William Dann Gordon, who I found living and married in Dublin City.  Thank you.

Dublin / Gordon/Wilson line in Dublin
« on: Thursday 28 January 10 22:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi.  I am new to the board and have been browsing around.  There is a lot of great information that is here.  I am hoping someone can help with my family line which has been difficult to trace.  I do have a MARRIAGE record that I sent for:

Marriage record for William Dann Gordon and Catherine Wilson on Nov. 4, 1869 at St. Mary's Church in the Parish of St. Mary in the City of Dublin. Married in the Parish Church according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the United Church of England and Ireland.  He was a housepainter and resided at 51 Jervis St., father Alexander Gordon, housepainter.   Catherine resided at 180 Brunswick St., father was John Wilson, occupation Butler  T.C.D.

I would like to know which direction I should go to learn about the next generation back.  I would like to obtain marriage records for Alexander Gordon and John Wilson to learn the names of their spouses plus where they were born.   However, since the surnames are so common, there are many listed and hard to narrow down.  Any advice?  Thank you in advance.
Regards, Carolyn
