London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Thomas and Rebecca Pratt 1841/51/61
« on: Wednesday 20 January 16 09:17 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone see this family in the early census records?   Thomas and Rebecca had four boys baptised at St Barnabus, Pimlico in September 1851.  Thomas Alexander, b 1844, Arthur Horatio b 1847, Cornelius James b 1849 and Orson Lorenzo b 1851, died infant.
Thomas was a tailor and their address was 4 South Place.    I can find Rebecca as a widow in 1871 age 46 and born St Geo in the East, living with son Arthur b St Geo Hanover Square.   However, I simply can't see them earlier.
Any help appreciated.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Date for Danish Ancestor?
« on: Monday 15 June 15 17:28 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone put a date to this man?    The painting has been passed down through the family but I am not sure which generation he is.   Either born c1840 and died 1884 or his father whose dates are unknown but family rumour has him coming from Denmark.   I would love to know.

Technical Help / New BT email system
« on: Friday 04 July 14 08:01 BST (UK)  »
I have just been changed from the BT Yahoo email to plain BT.   It is driving me mad as it logs me out every half hour, even if I am in the middle of writing an email.    I get error messages saying "The host has not been found" when I try to send emails but after two or three attempts it will send them. Is anyone else having problems?
Any solutions?

World War One / Medal details
« on: Thursday 28 February 13 17:33 GMT (UK)  »
William J Pearn - Medal card reads RGA Gnr 119700  RGA/169B page 6897  also says SWB list RG9/906

Can anyone tell me where he fought and any other details about him?  He does not appear on the cwgc site as far as I can see so must have survived the war.

I googled the Royal Garrison Artillery but did not get far.  I am hoping to find a connection to Mesopotamia.

Many thanks

Norfolk Lookup Requests / A Green Conundrum
« on: Friday 03 February 12 09:03 GMT (UK)  »
Owen Robert Green, a clerk, was 34 when he married in July 1917.   His father is given as Robert Green, Surveyor.  He was living at 16 Peacock Street, Norwich.   Witnesses are Edward James Fisher (father of the bride), Edith Ellen Marston, Grace Nellie Hammond and Edith M R Marston.  Owen is deceased in 1944 when his son married.   I cannot find a suitable birth or death registration for him, nor census records.  I have access to all of them.  There is a possibility with a widowed mother named Charlotte (Lottie) but I can't find a marriage for a Robert Green to a Charlotte.
Any help to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

United States of America / Pearson births
« on: Thursday 29 December 11 17:37 GMT (UK)  »
My first venture on this board!    The 1881 census RG11 4929 8 9 shows John and Jane Pearson with three children born in America.  Is there any way of tracing where?    William born c 1868, Jonathan c 1871 and Sarah c 1873.  I am assuming that dad was working as a miner somewhere.
Thanks,
Andrea

World War One / WW1 medal COMPLETED
« on: Monday 07 November 11 17:08 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help with a WW1 medal?  It is of the very ordinary (bronze?) "taking part" sort which says THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914-1919. The inscription round the edge says FS-10316 Cpl W Wharton R. Fus, which I assume is the Royal Fusiliers.  How can I trace who he was?
Thanks
Andrea
