Lincolnshire / George Proudley
« on: Wednesday 10 April 13 16:14 BST (UK)  »
Working on family of George Proudley born abt 1802 in Lincolnshire.  Have seen birth dates of 5-7-1802 and 12-25-1801.  Came to America in 1830.  Unable to locate parents or siblings of George.  He did marry in US (Pennsylvania) and had children name:  Hannah and George. Not sure if these are family names (could be a hint for parents or grandparents).
How can I locate who his parents were??
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

Armed Forces / First Anglo-Boer War
« on: Thursday 06 January 11 17:37 GMT (UK)  »
I am interested in finding a listing of those who served in the first Anglo-Boer War or the Transvaal War, which was fought from 16 December 1880 until 23 March 1881.
My Gr Gr Grandfather, Arthur Albert Harold, born in 1858, had told family that he served in the Boar War and worked at the Diamond Mines.  But I can not find any record of him in the military. Nor can I locate him in the 1881 British census.  He is in the 1871 in Wales going to school.  Then by 1884 he is in the USA for a few years.  His father was with the 16th Lancer and drew pension.
Any idea of how to locate those that fought in the first Boer War 1880- 1881?
Thank you
Shirley

« on: Wednesday 08 December 10 23:09 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching my 3 great grandfather and he died at the Poorhouse in Perth on New Years Eve in 1905.  Are there any personal records that I would be able to locate with the Poorhouse from that time period?  I am not sure what kind of records they would have as well as I am searching burial records.
Any help would be appreciated.

Kent / Harrolds in Maidstone & Boxley
« on: Tuesday 20 July 10 00:22 BST (UK)  »
I have been able to locate my family first in Boxley then in Maidstone.  I would like to know how to track my family before they were in Boxley.  The only info I have is William Harroll (Harrol, Harrold) married first Frances Fleet in July 9, 1780 in Boxley. But I do not know his parents and where they all came from.  What records are out there to go back further?
I have been in the parish records and of coarse the spelling keep changing but I have ran cold now.  I would appreciate any help

« on: Tuesday 30 March 10 01:21 BST (UK)  »
Hermann Becker born 1855 in Germany had immigrated to USA.  Upon his 2nd marriage I find him heading to British Columbia.

On June 12, 1912 they are found on records for Border Crossing to Canada.  Stating the place of destination is Kamloops, British Columbia.

Herman Becker age 57
Rosa Becker age 32
Hilda Becker age  8

After this crossing I can no longer find them.  Any ideas on where to look?  I have been stuck here for many many months.  Any help would be great.

Armed Forces / Henry W Harrold left England
« on: Friday 26 March 10 14:52 GMT (UK)  »
Henry W Harrold, age 22, was at the barracks in Hounslow, England in the 1851 Census along with brother, John Harrold who was a sargeant with the 16th Lancers.  It appears that Henry left the military and moved to USA by 1858.  How can I check military records to confirm that he left?  I can not locate him in England after that.
