Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / BRIERLEY/BRIERLY Selston MIs pls
« on: Thursday 20 November 14 01:45 GMT (UK)  »
I hope that SKS will be able to help with MIs at St Helen's, Selston for
the following & their families:

John BRIERLY (bur 13 Jan 1858, age 75)

John BRIERLEY (bur 05 Oct 1878, age 78)

I'm helping research a WWI soldier Harry Lowry MOFFITT who died 19 Jul 1917 in Fromelles France. He is thought to be one of the soldiers exhumed from a mass grave about five years ago. We are expanding his tree back into the past, as well as coming forward so that we may connect to living family members.

Harry MOFFITT's maternal great-grandmother was Mary BRIERLY, bap 12 Mar 1826 at Selston, d of John & Ann BRIERLY.

There are, however, two different families of John & Ann BRIERLY in Selston that overlap to a certain extent.
The MIs would help clarify this situation, especially as the burial registers don't include relationships.

Family 1 : 26 Mar 1805. John BRIERLY mar Ann fmr? POTTER
Family 2 : 17 Feb 1820. John BRIERLY mar Ann fmr? SHACROFT

also from the burial register:
15 Aug 1824. Anne BRIERLY, abode Selston, age 46 years
03 Jul 1861. Ann BRIERLEY, abode Selston, age 60 years

Mary BRIERLY married elsewhere in Nottinghamshire, and is neither the 1841 or 1851 census with her parents. Mary d in 1854 in London.
Mary's daughter & Harry's mother, Rebecca Susanna Hannah MINNS (1852-1952), emigrated to Australia.

(just a note: the Selston BMB registers on microfilm have been checked, as have the census records)

Herts Completed Lookup Requests / 1851 lookup SEABROOK Watford/Bushey please
« on: Saturday 12 February 05 18:05 GMT (UK)  »
I'm hoping that sks would kindly lookup in the 1851 census the family of Joseph (age about 32) and Mary SEABROOK (age about 28). A daughter Rhoda was born 2nd Q 1850 in the Watford district; an older son Daniel was born in Bushey, christened in Watford in 1846.

Joseph and Mary were living at Sothern Road in Watford in 1871.

We're also trying to find Ann SEABROOK in 1851, age about 60. She was in the Watford 1871 census, age 80, next door but one to Joseph and Mary SEABROOK, lodging with the GAZELY family. BMD lists a death of Ann SEABROOK age 82 in Watford, 4thQ 1872.

Ann SEABROOK's birthplace was listed in 1871 as Marston, Bucks.

Many thanks,

Kat

Herts Completed Lookup Requests / 1851 lookup KNIGHT Aldenham
« on: Thursday 10 February 05 22:43 GMT (UK)  »
I'm hoping that sks could lookup the 1851 census for Aldenham, the family of John and Hannah KNIGHT, ages about 33 and 28 respectively. In 1871 they were at the Red Lion Cottages.

Thanks, Kat
