Europe / Netherlands - long shot
« on: Monday 21 May 18 09:37 BST (UK)  »
I have come across a photograph taken by my father when he was in the Netherlands in 1945.  On the back he has written (to my mother) "this is Jan, he sends his best wishes".  In his old address book is a J Van Lierop Lissen in Weert.  Hoping as a long shot someone might have a connection. thanks

Wales / trying to locate Rees family
« on: Thursday 22 February 18 11:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hoping someone can help - I have all census info for my great grandfather Thomas Roger Rees but trying to establish where he was born.
He gives his date of birth as 20 March 1845 in the front of the family bible (started by he and his wife) and states place of birth was Treforest but there is no birth registered for him held in the Pontypridd registrars office.  In 1851, the family were living in Treforest and he was aged 5.  In 1861, they were living in Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne when he was aged 16 and place of birth Aberdare.  He married in Stockton on Tees 24 July 1866 and gives his age as 20.  In 1871 he was in Hartlepool aged 26 living with his parents while his wife and children were living with her parents - his place of birth given as Monmouthshire.  I've just paid for yet another birth certificate (which isn't him).  His wife remarried in 1880 as a widow but the only death I can find between 1871 and 1880 for Thomas is also in 1880 and this persons age is given as 33.  There are no births or deaths with middle name Roger, so I'm looking for a needle in a Welsh haystack full of Rees!  Can anyone help?
many thanks

« on: Tuesday 06 June 17 11:06 BST (UK)  »
My husband's grandfather, Henry Marston Layard Crawford died in Bidford on 1st June 1943.  I have his history, census information and his death certificate but have been unable to locate a burial or cremation record for him.  He was the local GP and the Crawford Memorial Hall was built in his honour.  Anyone able to point me in the right direction of how I find out where he was buried or cremated?
many thanks in advance

« on: Sunday 08 January 12 12:12 GMT (UK)  »
i'd be very grateful if there is anyone out there who will take a picture of the now closed Castleside School.  I went there in October and unfortunately the date and school board hasn't come out on the photo that I took.  Many thanks in advance
